Sitting out against the Golden State Valkyries, Cailtin Clark missed her 18th straight and 27th overall game in the season. While the player’s off-court moments are still keeping the fans hooked, basketball lovers are waiting to see her on the court. The playmaker’s absence forced the front office to look for an ‘able’ substitute.
Although Aari McDonald and Odyssey Sims are trying to fill in the void, they are far behind the level of impact the former Iowa star makes on the game. As Sophie Cunningham shared how stressful it is to watch the game from the sidelines, the 23-year-old star is going through the phase on a nightly basis. Yet the update from the Fever on CC’s return is not encouraging.
Fans React To Caitlin Clark’s Injury Update
HC Stephanie White wants to see the 2024 rookie regular in team practice and also play some useful drills during the training session to give her a green signal to take the center court. But as per the latest update, Clark is yet to feature in ‘team ‘practice and had small workouts ahead of the game against the Minnesota Lynx early in August.

The franchise obviously kept Clark’s return status ‘questionable’ for the game against the Phoenix Mercury. According to the authorities, the franchise is concerned with the young guard’s long-term future and is willing to give her ample time to recover 100% from the groin injury.
No changes to Fever’s injury report. Caitlin Clark and Chloe Bibby remain out.

The Indiana team stands in seventh position as of September 1. They have four games left before the playoff’s start.
The Indiana Fever Can Qualify For Playoff Without Caitlin Clark
As much as the star playmaker’s return is a must for the playoffs, fans feel that her earlier return could ensure a postseason qualification. Although it is understood that Clark’s return would ignite the team’s qualification chances, the side right now is in control of their own destination and could still qualify for the playoffs without CC.
As of September 1, the Indiana Fever has four games left in the season and still has a 1.5-game lead over the ninth-seed Los Angeles Sparks. The remaining opponents include Phoenix Mercury, Minnesota Lynx, Chicago Sky, and Washington Mystics.
The team needs at least two wins to ensure its playoff qualification. The side won every game against the Sky and also has a strong record against the Mystics. The game against the top-seed Lynx is their final game of the season, where Cheryl Reeve could give her bench players more game time, looking to keep the stars fresh for the postseason.
Without Clark, Aliyah Boston and co could secure wins over the Mystics and Sky to book a ticket to the playoffs. Yet, having the star playmaker back before the postseason would boost the team’s and fans’ confidence.
