There’s a WNBA team like the Minnesota Lynx, which is dominating the league and winning over every team. There’s a team like the Dallas Wings who are hitting rock bottom with their stats. But there’s also a team like Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever, which has been winning it all over, on and off the court.
Ahead of their big matchup against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday, Clark and her teammates rolled out the welcome mat for five Special Olympics athletes. The thoughtful camp turned a regular game prep into a feel-good moment. And guess what, the fans loved all of it.
Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Share Moment With Special Olympics Athlete
The Fever are battling with a shorthanded roster clogged with injury. While there’s not much to smile about, as Clark has been away from the team, team management brought up all the reasons to smile. The heartfelt scene unfolded at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Monday, where the Fever hosted a special signing ceremony for the athletes from Special Olympics Indiana.

Clark, sidelined with a groin injury since July 16, led the cheers as each player signed contracts and proudly held up their personalized Fever jerseys. Additionally, Coach Stephanie White and the team erupted in applause, making it feel like the actual big day for a WNBA signing.
The Indiana frontliners, including Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, jumped in to make the day unforgettable. The athletes, beaming with pride, joined the Fever for a practice session, while the adorable session rocked the court, fans on social media kept sending love for everybody involved.

The unique ceremony came as a second such organized season after the Fever’s earlier heartwarming gesture in 2024. Last year, they signed Special Olympics athletes during Caitlin Clark’s rookie year. However, this year’s celebration was not far ahead, and won good praise from their fanbase.

For Clark, who’s been rehabbing and not back to team drills yet, this was a chance to shine off the court. And as the glimpse shows up, she did have a good time with the special ones.
