The 2026 season will begin on May 8, and the first mega matchup will be between the Indiana Fever and Dallas Wings, as both sides have the recent two top picks on their rosters. Paige Bueckers vs Caitlin Clark had been one of the eye-catching games in the league.
Ironically, there are still many empty seats in the arena, and fans are also concerned about Caitlin Clark’s season opener matchup against Paige Bueckers. There is one ‘big’ reason for this poor response, though.

Reason For Dip In Indiana Fever Ticket Sales For Season Opener
The 18,000-capacity arena enjoyed huge support from fans throughout the 2024 and 2025 seasons with Clark and co. entertaining them with their gameplay. The side has a massive fan following and was able to fill the away arenas too, showing their ‘demand’ in the league.
Yet with nearly 70% occupancy to date, many are searching for the answer. Cost is the primary factor in the steep decline in sales for the Fever home opener.

To sit just 11 rows off the court in section 16 on May 20 will cost $228. The exact same seat will cost $876.95 for the season-opener on May 9. NBA playoff tickets are also at a lower price right now, with tickets for the Portland Trail Blazers vs. San Antonio Spurs series available for $875.

The ‘expensive’ CBA could be the reason for the league, as other franchises also raised their ticket prices. The Atlanta Dream even changed their prices for the second time after Angel Reese’s move.
On the floor, though, the Fever side managed to recall most of the 2025 roster and added a few impactful pieces in its training camp roster. Coach white is happy with one particular player.
Stephanie White Praises Indiana Fever’s New Addition
The Indiana used their free agency to acquire veteran forward Monique Billings. The player signed for a two-year deal costing $1.6 million to the side. Even though the side lost Natasha Howard and a few guards, White was happy with Billings’ addition.
The 29-year-old brings eight seasons of experience to Indianapolis. Those numbers do not jump off the stat sheet. However, White believes Billings brings something more valuable to the Fever.
“[Billings] is an elite communicator on the defensive end of the floor,” White said. “There should not be mistakes in coverages because she is talking about it. She is a really good defender, active, aggressive. She is a hard rim runner. She is a hard roller out of ball screens. She is a terrific rebounder. And she is a bright personality. She brings a lot of energy. I thought her and Caitlin had really good chemistry at USA as well.”
