Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever did whatever was within their reach to make it a good showing ahead of the WNBA All-Star. Despite all the sensation and fame Clark brings with her, some players were far from impressed.
Despite leading the All-Star captain voting with way over a million votes, the Fever rookie got snubbed badly in the guards’ ranking. The players in the league ranked her the ninth-best guard. Something that sounds too harsh for someone like her. And that thing irked one of the former NBA superstars.
Gilbert Arenas Goes Off On WNBA Players For Snubbing Caitlin Clark
Clark has been the first thing that comes to mind after thinking of the WNBA in recent times. Though her star power is not only about her stat line, or how many free throws she makes. Gilbert Arenas recently took to his podcast ‘Gil’s Arena’ to vent his frustration on the league players.

“Players ranked Caitlin Clark the ninth-best guard. Ninth? Players still in their feelings. They was picking her up full court in the All-Star game and they going to say she nine. Y’all, why y’all knocking her on the floor and s**? Why y’all doing all this s***? Do they not know, like, when she was gone, it went back to the year before she was in the league. Like, the views stop. Like, just enjoy and go on with it,” Arenas said(Via Underdog).

While being a three-time NBA All-Star himself, Arenas knows better what it takes to be among the All-Stars. And for the fact that most of the analysts are siding with the Iowa-born star, she has delivered enough in the last year, if not this season.

Above all, she has long been termed the most marketable sports star of recent times. And with this tag, she has had enough to deserve whatever berth there is for the best WNBA player. Be it a place at the top of the All-Star ranking or a statue in the future, maybe.
ESPN Analyst Thinks Indiana Fever Is Better Without Caitlin Clark
While we are still decades away from getting a full-size Caitlin Clark statue outside the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, she has to please many eyes. In her absence from the roster for the past couple of weeks, Indiana has not shown any signs of slowing down.
And with that, it gave her critics an unmissable opportunity to hit a homer and belittle her significance. ESPN analyst Carolyn Peck went on to deliver a rather bold take while Clark was nursing her groin injury.
“I think that Indiana is even more dangerous when Caitlin Clark doesn’t play because she’s a ball-dominant guard. The ball is in her hands a lot. So, you know what you need to try to take away. But when you look at Indiana now, they’ve got so many weapons…When you have a point guard like Kelsey Mitchell and Aari McDonald making plays on the perimeter and a post like Aliyah Boston, I’m going to tell you, Indiana, they are a threat, and especially on the defensive end,” she said.
Her comments might not be completely baseless, but Indiana is better without CC is a bit of an overstatement. Peck’s comment did not age well, as she’s being called out for her bold statement. Until next time, Clark would hopefully give her enough reasons to eat her own words. We, like the rest of the league, kind of believe in the rookie phenom.
