There were times when teams stretched the UConn Huskies to the final possession, keeping the excitement in the game. But 2025-26 was not that season as Geno Auriemma’s side remained one of the dominant teams, finishing the impressive season with zero losses.
In the postgame interview, UConn coach shared his honest thoughts on the Undefeated season and also spoke about the March Madness. But in a typical ‘Auriemma’ manner, he pointed out one flaw in his team’s performance in win number 31.

The UConn Huskies looked confident and in control to defeat the St John’s Red Storm by an 85-49 scoreline. Sarah Strong scored 11 points and collected seven rebounds while Azzi Fudd led the team with 14 points and two assists.
Although it was a commanding performance by the Huskies, coach Auriemma spoke about his team’s lack of offensive rebounding. In the on-court interview, he said, “We have the same number of offensive rebounds as a dead person. Zero.”

Geno Auriemma’s 2025-26 Huskies Create History
UConn’s recent dominance gets the seal of approval from ESPN’s Holly Rowe for pushing other basketball programs, but the 2025-26 team had been at another level, possibly demoralising its opponents.
The side not only recorded an undefeated season, but they also maintained a massive win margin. The Huskies have an average margin of victory of 37.8 points per game, the third highest in NCAA women’s history. The top two spots belong to the 2014–15 UConn team (40.6 points per game) and ’15–16 Huskies (39.7).
The side’s lowest win margin in the season was three points against Michigan, while they won by 13+ points in 27 games. Huskies won 14 games by at least 40 points and six games by at least 50.
