The Indiana Fever recorded a shocking 81-54 victory over the Las Vegas Aces. A win might not be a surprise, but the point difference surely is. A few days ago, when these teams faced each other, the Aces got a comfortable win at the T-Mobile Arena, but the tables certainly turned at the Gainbridge Arena, with Fever players controlling the game right from the start.
Apart from Aja Wilson, who scored 29 points, none of the Aces players could score more than seven points. While it was a perfect night for Stephane White’s side, her counterpart was not at all happy with the performance of the Aces.
Becky Hammon Slams Las Vegas Aces Players’ Lack Of Efforts
The Las Vegas Aces enjoyed a few dominating seasons in recent history. Since A’Ja Wilson’s inclusion in the side, LV side won two titles and made to every playoff except one. Along with the South Carolina star, coach Becky Hammon played vital role shaping up the champion team. The 2022 Coach of the Year winner also enjoyed great success with the Aces. But the story is different in the 2025 season.
The side is losing some important games and is on pace to keep up with their postseason aspirations. A defeat to the Indiana Fever is more demoralizing and damaging, as both teams are close competitors for the eighth spot. Known for her ‘no-nonsense’ attitude, Hammon fired back at her players and questioned their professionalism. When asked to comment on her team’s performance, the 48-year-old coach left no space for sympathy.

“There’s not a whole lot to say. That’s a complete lack of professionalism to come in here with that effort. Complete lack of focus. They played harder yesterday in practice by a lot.
Wasn’t even close. So, I don’t know how you step onto the floor with 20,000 people in the stands and perform like that. That’s one of the worst offense. It is the worst offensive night I’ve ever seen. Um, as far as I’ve been here in the last four years.” Becky Hammon said (Via Ballers Magazine YouTube Video)

With no Caitlin Clark on the floor, the 2023 champion side was expected to record another win over Indiana Fever team – there 17th in a row. But Aliyah Boston, Natash Howard and Kelsey Mitchell continued their hot form to dismantle the Aces’ gameplan.
While Hammon was stunned by lack of efforts from er side, she kept pointing out the error that cost them the important game. She even added that the Fever side was more physical. She highlighted the fact that game was lost in the paint region with opposition scoring multiple buckets with ease attacking the rim.
Las Vegas Aces’ Players Need To Step Up To The Challenge
A’ja Wilson is the reigning WNBA regular season MVP, her third in the last four seasons. Her performances lift the Aces to new heights. Two WNBA titles and one Commissioner’s Cup Championship solidified her claim as the top player in the league. But in 2025, she is getting beaten ‘a bit easily’.
With new players on the roster, the side is looking to form perfect chemistry to keep the winning tradition going. But the side lost a few key players from their last championship roster, and it affected their progress this season. The former South Carolina star is overloaded and yet delivering another MVP statline. She is leading the team in points, blocks, rebounds and steals. The only other player to keep the scoreboard ticking is Jackie Young.
While Jackie Young and A’ja Wilson are in the 2025 WNBA All-Star game discussions, no other player made it to the cut. Others are lacking consistency and need to step up to put up a fight against their opponents. A lot is expected from Chelsea Gray and Jewell Lloyd, who could prove a great hand in the Aces’ upcoming games.
