The 2025 Season is 20 games old now, and the picture for the playoffs is getting clearer. Topsides like the Minnesota Lynx, Phoenix Mercury, and New York Liberty have nearly confirmed their spots for the postseason, while six other teams are fighting for the remaining places. Amid this ‘tussle,’ fans will have an exhibition game—the WNBA All-Star game—featuring top players from each franchise playing against each other, drafted into two teams.
The annual event will showcase elite players competing for supremacy. During the Olympic games, the gala event had Team USA vs. WNBA games. In other seasons, players from both conferences play on two teams in the highly entertaining game. Here are all the details on how the 2025 WNBA All-Star players are selected:
How 2025 WNBA All-Star Players Are Selected?
The All-Star games have a unique feature that involves fans, media personalities, active players, and coaches involved in the process, which makes it a truly global event. As for the player selection process, there are three stages in which all the parties involved make their selections.
Fans, media members, and players vote for their All-Star selection. Players have one restriction of voting for their teammates, while fans and media members are open to voting for any player multiple times.

Fans’ votes have maximum weightage—50%. The media and players’ voting accounts for the remaining 50%, which is equally weighted between them. The highest vote-getters from each conference will then captain either side in the game. The remaining top eight vote-getters will complete the starting lineup. This lineup includes four guards and six forwards, voted the best at their positions.
While fans, media, and active players select the starting 10 players, the coaches will choose the reserves. They can’t vote for their roster members and will get a chance to select four forwards, four guards, and another four players at either position. With the selection of 12 reserves, the 22-member squad for the All-Star game is ready.
