It’s officially Indiana Fever’s time in the league. With Caitlin Clark’s addition, the franchise made a massive stride in popularity and rose to contender level. The franchise also made a quick adjustment, suiting the new superstar in the league and providing all possible support to help her thrive.
From the players to the back office, adjustments and new player additions were made. They already had their champion head coach, Lin Dunn, as General Manager. And now, the league is honoring the Hall of Fame coach with a special award named after her.
Indiana Fever Legend Lin Dunn Receives Special Honor From WNBA
The 78-year-old executive played a vital role in building the franchise. She led the team to its only championship in 2012 and rejoined the side as GM in 2023. Since then, the franchise has made impressive progress in the league, putting together the right pieces for development.
Current Fever COO and GM Amber Cox shared news regarding the former executive turned advisor. She mentioned that Dunn will receive the WNBA’s annual Inspiring Women Award. The league will also name the award after her going forward.

After a successful college coaching career, Lin Dunn joined the WNBA as the first head coach and general manager of the expansion team Seattle Storm. She developed players like Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird, who went on to create history in the league. Later, she took an assistant coach position and then an HC position at the Indiana Fever, spanning between 2008 and 2014. During that phase, she led the side to the 2009 WNBA finals and won the 2012 championship with the Fever.
The Tennessee-Martin graduate recorded franchise’s best record – 119-85 during her time in Indiana. Ironically, Stephanie White was her assistant during her final seasons with the team. She played key role in recruiting Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston during her time as GM and now works as senior adviser for the franchise.
