Fever Sign Aerial Powers On Seven-Day Hardship Contract Amid Injuries
This season has been a rollercoaster for Indiana. They started as title contenders, boasting a stacked lineup with Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Natasha Howard, Aliyah Boston, and DeWanna Bonner. But injuries have decimated their roster.

Clark has missed 17 games with quad, groin, and ankle issues, while Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald are out for the year with knee and ACL injuries. Bonner’s abrupt move to Phoenix didn’t help either. With only five games left, the Fever are leaning on hardship signings like Powers to keep their postseason dreams alive. Additionally, Clark’s delayed injury return has cost her a shot at WNBA history.

In Friday’s win, Powers showed why she’s a clutch addition. She complemented Boston’s dominant 22 points, 11 rebounds, and six steals, and Odyssey Sims’ 21 points. After a positive turnaround following an abrupt injury-filled stretch, the Indiana fans would be the happiest at the moment. However, the Fever’s playoff push is precarious, but Powers gives them a fighting chance.
At a tricky position, they’re third in the Eastern Conference, just ahead of the eighth-seeded Golden State Valkyries, who they face next on Sunday. Additionally, while Clark’s return remains uncertain, Powers’ re-signing will fuel a positive boost to the roster. With Boston and Mitchell leading the charge, and Powers filling the gaps, the Fever are proving they’ve got heart, and maybe a playoff run, in them yet.
