The Indiana Fever is bleeding. The franchise lost its third player for the rest of the season following an update on Sophie Cunningham’s injury. This puts Stephanie White’s team in deep trouble, with options for primary ball handlers shrinking per game. The team also released Kyra Lambert, which many presumed was a move to make space for Caitlin Clark.
But the team stunned everyone with a quick announcement of the addition of another veteran point guard. While Odyssey Sims took over the starting PG role and shone in the last two games, the front office is looking to provide her backup with another veteran guard to keep the offense flowing.
Indiana Fever Adds Veteran Guard Post Sophie Cunningham’s Injury
Fans expected moves after the forward got injured. But her reports suggested that the 29-year-old would be out for a season, and the team would once again rely on hardship contracts to fill in the void. With Caitlin Clark still nursing her groin injury, the Fever team decided to fill in at the guard position instead of adding another forward.

As per a post shared by the Indiana Fever, they have signed guard Shey Peddy to a seven-day hardship contract and released guard Kyra Lambert. The 36-year-old star played six seasons in the league and averages around six points, three assists, and three rebounds.
She played for the LA Sparks very recently and matched her career average. The 2012 rookie has vast experience in the league and played in three playoffs with the Phoenix Mercury. Her passing and 40% shooting make her an intriguing addition to the side looking to make a push for the postseason.
Sophie Cunningham will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an injury during our game at Connecticut on Sunday.
