The WNBA Season will start within 24 hours, and the fans are ready to welcome Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever on the opening day of the season. While there is huge hype around the game, considering the massive star-power involved in the game, there are a few empty seats for the tipoff, which is a concerning sign for the franchise, like the Fever, who sold out all the games in the previous two seasons.
Analyst Jason Whitlock challenged Clark’s stardom, highlighting the booking details and noting that she had lost her fan following. In a recent interview, he blamed the franchise for giving the player secondary treatment by diminishing her star power.

Jason Whitlock Slams Indiana Fever For ‘False Agenda’ Against Caitlin Clark
Every fan will have an eye on the Indiana Fever team, which not only remained a challenging side in the 2026 season with strong roster formation but also with the return of Clark. The player will play her first WNBA game after August 2025.
While there are high expectations, Jason Whitlock is not happy with the franchise’s narrative, diminishing the 2024 rookie’s stardom. He said, “I think Caitlin Clark’s attitude has been undermined, and she doesn’t wanna be the leader. Because they basically brainwashed her and brainwashed the team, basically, that ‘we are better if Kelsey Mitchell is the leader or if Aliyah Boston is the leader.”

He claimed that the franchise is bullying CC to take a secondary role, whereas the player should lead the team.

One of the biggest reasons supporting Whitlock’s narrative is the coach’s plan to use her playmaker this season.
Stephanie White Wants Caitlin Clark To Play Off-Ball
Coach Stephanie White did well without CC in the 2025 season and wishes to run a fast-paced offense in the 2026 season, too. So far in her career, the former Iowa star shone in various environments, making the plays with her long passes and even surprising the opposition with step-back threes. But as per the coach’s view, she would do better off-ball.
In a recent interview, White said, “The way that teams play Caitlin is different from everyone. To alleviate some pressure, we need to get her off the ball sometimes… & not all the time. It’s a way to help her load management, to alleviate the extra stuff that is put on her shoulders in a course of a game.”

She added that sharing the ball would reduce pressure on her and would allow her to play freely. Interestingly, CC also expressed a similar idea in the press conference, backing Whitlock’s ‘brainwashed’ views.
