The Indiana Fever is turning things around rapidly. As they started their campaign on a high note, things quickly got subdued. Facing off against the Phoenix Mercury, the Fever had a resilient 107-101 victory. And playing without the likes of Clark, this was Fever’s third win on the trot. Surely, this is great news for the team. However, reacting to the same, analyst Jason Whitlock had a shocking statement to share.

Veteran analyst Jason Whitlock had a lot of praise for the Indiana Fever squad. Playing without the mainstay of their team, the group hasn’t flinched. Indiana barely felt Clark’s absence as they humbled the Mercury, who were in red-hot form before the game. By virtue of three back-to-back wins, the Fever have climbed up to the sixth spot.
With 15 wins and 12 losses, the team can very well claw its way into the championship run. Speaking on the matter, Whitlock stated that the Fever does not need Caitlin Clark to ‘save’ them. Clark is a great athlete who can definitely elevate Indiana’s chances of winning the title. On the contrary, Whitlock also stated that the presence of a personality like Clark will go a long way in uplifting the WNBA’s appeal to the masses.

Coming back to the game, it was a team effort that saw the Fever through. Aari McDonald was the star with 27 points. She received able support from some spirited play from Spohie Cunningham and Aliyah Boston. Meanwhile, speaking about Clark’s impact, Boston recently revealed how the opponent gets at ease without her.

Caitlin Clark does pack a punch. And opponents do make some special plans when she is around. Speaking with Candace Parker, Aliyah Boston stated that without Clark around, the opponents tend to relax a bit.
“I think when you have Caitlin on the floor, everything is automatically spaced. The floor is spaced, defenses are high-in because she comes across half court, you can set an early drag, and there’s a deep three going up,” Boston responded to CP’s question. (Via Post Moves podcast)
