In the game against the New York Liberty, the Chicago Sky had nothing to lose, and their fearless approach worked wonders as the 11th-place side recorded a shocking 91-85 win over the defending champions. Despite questions over availability, Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso played in the game and controlled the paint region.
While this was the scene most Sky fans wanted to see throughout the season, the side eventually dropped out of postseason contention. But the Brazilian star has her eyes on improvement.
Kamila Cardoso Praises Angel Reese’s Rebounding Skill
The Chicago Sky’s victory over the New York Liberty was a clear example of dominance around the rim. The hosts out-rebounded the Liberty 42 to 27 and even outscored them with 52 to 26. In a six-point win, these margins look gigantic and impactful. The South Carolina star had 22 points and 15 rebounds and was the player of the game.

While she played five extra minutes than her superstar teammate, her performance against the 2024 champs speaks volumes. Yet she praised her teammate, Angel Reese, and mentioned that she is looking to reach the LSU star’s level of rebounding.
“I just try to inspire myself after Angel. She’s a great rebounder, and I try to do the same thing,” Cardoso told the media.

Tyler Marsh Lauds Angel Reese’s Impact After Return
The Chicago Sky struggled without AR5 in the lineup. Importantly, it was not only the losses that saddened the fans, but also the lack of competition and the increased number of mistakes made the game experience even worse. Upon Reese’s return, the team stayed competitive, and even the loss margin dropped drastically. HC Tyler Marsh reflected on her return and the impact it made on the team.
“What Angel adds with her being back is her competitive edge; it’s something that is infectious, something that we feed off of her. She is a huge piece of that. Also, she brings a great positive energy and positive vibes,” says Coach Tyler Marsh.
