The WNBA season is over. But it does not look like the action around female basketball is getting over either. Following the CBA negotiations, the temperatures are on the rise. And with Cathy Engelbert allegedly making some controversial comments, things are pretty much complicated. Only recently, Dan Patrick argued that the WNBA needed Caitlin Clark more. Meanwhile, even amidst such a situation, there is some upbeat news coming up. And Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell’s recent feat is sure to put a smile on the Indiana Fever fans’ faces.
Both Boston and Mitchell had been like rocks in the Fever lineup. When the likes of Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, and Sydney Colson were absent, it was these two athletes who held it together for Indiana. Surely, it is quite evident that their hard work has been duly recognized.
Aliyah Boston And Kelsey Mitchell Make Indiana Fever Proud
Mitchell might have expressed uncertainty about her future with Indiana. But speaking about what she did for the Fever this year was priceless. Together with Boston, the duo took Indiana to the semis, when most doubted that the team would even make the playoffs. As a reward, both Mitchell and Boston were named to the All-WNBA teams recently.

While Mitchell made the first team, Boston was picked for the second. And this was a moment of history for the team. The duo became only the second pair to make it to the All-WNBA team in franchise history. Tamika Catchings and Katie Douglas were the first athletes to make the cut back in 2009-2010.

Surely, a glance at their performance will reveal their sheer dominance. Mitchell led the league with an impeccable 111 three-pointers in the regular season. On the contrary, Boston ranked in the WNBA top 10 with a total of 361 rebounds. Surprisingly, while Mitchell did impress, she had to overcome some grueling physical complications.

Sophie Cunningham Describes Kelsey Mitchell’s Scary ‘Rhabdomyolysis’
While Mitchell was a star for the Fever, the end of her season came in a shocking manner. The Fever star walked off the court with an injured leg, as she had to be helped off the court. Later on, the WNBA veteran detailed that she had a condition called rhabdomyolysis. This is a condition that leads to temporary muscle shutdown and even paralysis. Shedding further light on the matter, Sophie Cunningham explained the situation in one of her ‘Show Me Something’ podcast episodes.

“She just got a full body cramp…it was bad, she was a little sick, super dehydrated, but really the doctor said you know, like, she played till her wheels came off. Like her body was to a point of exhaustion, where she couldn’t go anymore. She was in a full-body cramp. They rushed her to the hospital. Got some IVs in her, did some blood work. She’s gonna be good, but she is super sore. She is moving, walking slowly… we’re thankful, but it still sucks,” Cunningham stated.
Thus, having gone through a lot, it is fitting that the likes of Mitchell and Boston are finally enjoying the limelight. And fans would surely want them to keep the good work going.
