Stehanie White might have marked the fixture as a must-win encounter for the Indiana Fever to qualify for the postseason. Even though a win doesn’t seal a spot in the playoffs, it puts them a step closer to finishing in the top eight. The Fever HC White talked about the team’s reliance on Kelsey Mitchell, and the player once again delivered a 20-point performance.
This is her seventh 20+ point performance in the last 10 games, as the guard is currently in scintillating form. With that, she also entered an elite list of scorers in the WNBA.
Kelsey Mitchell Joins Elite Scoring Club
Caitlin Clark’s confirmation about her season-ending injury was devastating news for the Fever fan base. But they got something to cheer about, as the franchise nearly secures its place in the playoffs with a win over the Chicago Sky at home.

Angel Reese missed the game due to suspension. Her absence was a major setback for the Windy City team who already lost four games against the Indiana Fever this season. The hosts took advantage of the absence of the superstar forward and raced to a comfortable 97-77 victory.
The 29-year-old guard continued her scoring spree and scored 20 points in the game. Sophie Cunningham called Mitchell unguardable, and she showed why her teammate thinks highly of her. This took her tally to 860 points in the 2025 season. With that, she became the first Fever player and fifth overall to cross the 850-point landmark in a season.

A’ja Wilson, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, and Jewell Lloyd are the other four players who crossed the 850-point barrier in a season. Wilson did it thrice in her career and holds the record for the most points in a single season with 1021 points scored in 2024.
Kelsey Mitchell Needs To Carry Offensive Load For Indiana Fever In Postseason
The star-studded roster now has Odyssey Sims as a potent scorer and playmaker who, to some extent, takes the place of Caitlin Clark. The frontcourt duo of Natasha Howard and Aliyah Boston has also performed well for the injury-hit team. Lexie Hull found her rhythm back and took the starting role once again.
But in all these positives, consistency remains questionable. Howard and Sims, in particular, struggled against defensively strong teams, while Boston and Hull have a limited range of shots which can be countered by the opposition defenses. Kelsey Mitchell is the only player who has been consistent on the court and could score from any range with a high percentage conversion.
In the last 20 games, she averaged nearly 22 points and dropped below double-digit scoring only twice. The three-time All-Star also provided five assists, carrying most of the offensive load for the side. The Fever are most likely to face the Atlanta Dream in the first round, and to counter their forward lineup, KM must put foot on the pedal for scoring bursts on a nightly basis.
