Becky Hammon surely did issue a warning to the Indiana Fever. After triumphing over the Seattle Storm, the Aces were looking like a strong contender for the WNBA title this season. And while they can still lift the cup, Game 1 of their semi finals did not turn out as per the expectations. On the contrary, Indiana Fever has maintained their recent surge. And one name they would like to thank is none other than Kelsey Mitchell.
With big names like Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, and more out of the team, there were not a lot of expectations. But while the likes of Aliyah Boston impressed, the semifinal Game 1 was owned entirely by Mitchell.
Kelsey Mitchell Powers Indiana Fever To Glory
The Fever athletes were already hyped up. And why not? After starting their playoff campaign with a crushing defeat against the Atlanta Dream, Indiana turned things around drastically. But with A’ja Wilson clinching her fourth WNBA MVP, the task seemed to be a little tricky for the Fever. But Mitchell surely had other ideas.

The 29-year-old exploded and helped her team to cross over the line in a crucial semifinal. Playing some impeccable basketball, Mitchell dropped a whopping 34 points to stun the Las Vegas Aces. Now then, this was no ordinary showing. The Fever star entered the history books with her superior performance. As per research done by ESPN, Mitchell now has the most points by a WNBA player in their first career semifinal game.

Kelsey Mitchell Praises Stephanie White For Her Incredible Tactics
Playing in Game 1 of the WNBA semifinal, the Fever always had an upper hand. And ever since their loss against the Dream, the team has looked quite a changed side. And as per Mitchell, all the credit surely goes to none other than the head coach of the team. Admiring White’s abilities, Mitchell pointed out how exactly the head coach’s influence changed her. The Fever star stressed that there have been instances when the Indiana squad saw worse days. But none of the coaches put their efforts into Mitchell.

“I’ve had five coaches in eight years. I’ve been on the worst record teams here in [the] Indiana Fever, so I know where my career started at… And I’ve never had a coach that poured into me, respectfully, like Steph has,” Mitchell said.
Surely, such a statement had White get emotional. But the fact of the matter is, Mitchell is spot on with her assessment. And we can see that both Mitchell and the Fever are soaring at the moment.
