It was always a tough task for the Indiana Fever. Going up against the Minnesota Lynx, Indiana lost 90-95. However, coming right off a stellar performance against the Sun, Kelsey Mitchell almost led her team to a surprise win. Mitchell has been getting praises for her impeccable play in the last game. Even a former Chicago Sky star looked impressed with the Fever star. And now, witnessing her success against the Lynx, the MVP talks have gotten ever so loud.
Competing without the likes of Caitlin Clark, Mitchell made sure that the Lynx did not have a cakewalk. Playing for 35 minutes, the 29-year-old guard dropped 27 points. She also added five assists to make life difficult for the Minnesota defence on the court. And while her teammates cheered loudly, the Fever guard has now expressed her elation about receiving so much love.
Kelsey Mitchell Feels Humbled By Her Teammates
Mitchell has been in some sublime form lately. With Stephanie White delivering grim updates about Clark, the 29-year-old has held the team together. And looking at her incredible play, her Indiana teammates are voicing their support for her MVP run. Ahead of the game against Minnesota, the Fever players walked into the arena sporting Kelsey Mitchell MVP t-shirts. Surely, receiving such love and support made the 29-year-old drop a heartfelt message for her teammates.

“It was fun. It was funny. I was very humbled. I was grateful for my group… love the people I play with. And, to know that they would go out of their way to make something like that happen for me, it means a lot. … They make me feel like I’m important to them and vice versa. That value means everything to me,” said Mitchell.

Aliyah Boston Makes A Strong Case For Kelsey Mitchell’s MVP Run
Trailing by 21 points against the Connecticut Sun, the Indiana Fever looked down and out. However, Mitchell had other ideas. The former Ohio State star decided to explode with a 38-point stat line. And it was enough for the Fever to turn the deficit upside down, walk away with a victory. Witnessing the carnage first hand, Aliyah Boston could not believe her eyes. And she immediately lauded the 29-year-old for her consistency. Boston also spoke about how big an impact Mitchell has on the team.

“She comes out, she defends, she scores the ball, she plays 40 minutes per game and she still consistently puts up these numbers. I feel like if she’s not MVP, shoot. That’s crazy,” said Boston.
Surely, the 2023 Rookie of the Year does have a valid point. Mitchell’s 38-point outing marked the 11th time she had crossed the 30-point game for the Fever this season. She also broke Tamika Catchings’ record and established a new franchise record. With averages of 20.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists this season, Mitchell’s case for the WNBA MVP is surely growing stronger.
