The Los Angeles Sparks vs the Indiana Fever game on July 5 was complete entertainment. Both teams out-smart each other on multiple occasions, with a few superstars like Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink still out of the action. Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard looked in control from the start of the game, yet Kelsey Plum pulled a remarkable performance to hand the Fever their ninth loss of the season.
The close game showed a hard tussle between the competitors and lived up to expectations. In the midst of all the tensions of the game, Plum pulled off a moment that lightened the mood in the game.
Kelsey Plum Hits Multiple Push-Ups During Sparks-Fever Game
The Los Angeles Sparks do not have a great record in the 2025 WNBA Season. Though the side lost many close games, it was Kelsey Plum, who was always looking to make things happen for her team. In a game against the Indiana Fever, the 2017 first pick was at her best once again proving to be the difference maker.

The star guard scored an important basket late in the second quarter, taking a two-point lead with just over 3 minutes left before halftime. A few minutes later, Kelsey Mitchell fouled the champion guard while she was trying to get past her opponent.
She fell hard on the floor, which looked a bit worrisome. But instead of stopping the play for injury or staying on the floor, Plum ‘hilariously’ did several push-ups. The Sparks’ guard’s reaction suited her strong character. Spectators applauded the Sparks’ guard for her response. The seven-year veteran guard had fun interactions with Fever fans before. She famously had a jersey swap incident with a Fever fan in a previous game, which also went viral.

It was this ‘grit’ and ‘dawg’ mentality that the former Las Vegas guard brings to her team. It was not the only highlight reel that the 30-year-old star had provided from the game. Her defensive stops and clutch shots helped her team secure a second win over Caitlin Clark’s team in the 2025 season.
Kelsey Plum Leads Sparks Against Strong Indiana Fever
Caitlin Clark and co. were seen as top contenders for the WNBA title this season, with a number of moves made before the WNBA 2025 season. A great form of their young core and the addition of championship-experienced vets and Stephanie White was a perfect combo for the team. But still, they were not convincing enough as ‘a challenger’ for the title and stand seventh in the league with a 9-9 record.
While the poor start to the season was their main issue once again, the team showed great character, winning multiple games since June. Their 6-4 record in June helped them to steady their nerves, and their recent Commissioner’s Cup win once again put them on the contenders list. The only thing that separates their recent dominance is overcoming the Sparks team.
LA Sparks defeated the Fever in June with an 85-75 win at Gainbridge Arena. Kelsey Plum was instrumental in that game, also scoring 21 points and providing six assists on June 26. In the recent matchup, the teams were separated by a single shot. Dearica Hamby’s go-ahead basket with 57.4 seconds left put the Sparks ahead 88-87. The Fever missed their last five shots, and Stevens secured the rebound and banked a free throw to seal the win for the Sparks. Kelsey Plum’s another 20-point performance, combined with Azura Stevens’ double-double outing, played a vital role for the three-time WNBA champions.
