Lauren Betts has stormed into the WNBA scenario. Following her impressive showing in the NCAA realm, there were some strong arguments for her to become the No. 1 pick. As the WNBA draft went on, the UCLA star was ultimately roped in as the No. 4 overall pick by the Washington Mystics.
Immediately, the hopes and expectations shot through the roof. After all, Betts received a special message from former POTUS, Barack Obama. With the new season round the corner, as the Washington Mystics will be heavily banking on the 22-year-old, the UCLA star has one major focus coming into the league of elites.

Lauren Betts Keeps Her Health At The Forefront
The Spanish-born star helped her team to clinch the NCAA championship this year. Thus, every time she is on the court, the expectations will shoot up. And while the 6-foot-7 star would want to lead her team to victory, her health remains one of the biggest priorities.
Coming off a hectic NCAA schedule, there have been concerns regarding whether Betts would have enough rest. As Joshua Valdez asked her about her recovery, the UCLA star had a confident reply.
“Yeah, they’re going to take good care of me here. I’ve already talked to all the staff, and they know that I just came off of a long season. Just making sure that I’m taking extra care of my body. Kiki [Iriafen] has done a really good job of making sure that I know that,” said Betts.
I asked Lauren Betts if she has a plan to make sure her body is rested enough going into the season given that she just came off her collegiate season at UCLA:

Lauren Betts Has A Strong Mental Health Message Ahead Of Her WNBA Season

Things seem to be all rosy and perfect with Betts. Soon after landing with the Mystics, this year’s fourth overall pick landed a Reebok deal. However, despite all the outer glamour, things might get a bit tough sometimes. And that is why the 2026 NCAA champion has made sure to remind people that the athletes are ‘humans’ after all.
“I feel like it speaks to just how I always try to say athletes are way more than just – we don’t just dribble the basketball. We’re people at the end of the day. And I feel like in that moment, my teammates, they weren’t looking at me as their teammate that had gone missing — they care about their friends,” Betts said.
