The Indiana Fever had been in a bit of a pickle mid-way into the season. Stephanie White already brought some grim news regarding Caitlin Clark, as the rookie’s season looked pretty lacklustre. She had one of the most dominant seasons in her rookie year that changed the entire dynamics of the WNBA. Unfortunately, her groin injury left her stuck for almost the whole season this time. However, despite not playing, fellow teammate Lexie Hull had some impressive words for the 23-year-old.
Hull recently caught up with Sportskeeda in an exclusive interview. Speaking about a plethora of topics, Clark’s injury was something that inadvertently came up. And the Fever star was utterly impressed by the manner in which the former Iowa star has carried herself during times of gloom.
Lexie Hull Praises Caitlin Clark’s Maturity While Sitting On The Sidelines
Clark has been a livewire with her impeccable hooping display on the court. However, while sitting on the bench, her activity level has remained the same. She has been travelling with the team to all of its games and has embraced her role of cheering up the players. The 2024 Rookie of the Year also got involved in some occasional heated debates with the officials. Only recently, cameras caught Clark’s frustrations with referees post-Fever’s recent win.

Speaking about Clark’s maturity, Hull pointed out how it is not easy to have oneself assessed day-to-day. “I’ve been impressed with her maturity through it. It’s not easy to go day-to-day and continue to think, ‘Maybe this is my day, maybe it’s not.’ But she continues to come in and be the person that she is. She’s funny and a jokester. She brings energy and a light to situations that could be really dark. So I think, more than anything, I’m just proud of her and her resiliency throughout this year. Hopefully we’ll see her back out there,” Hull said.

The Fever star also praised the rookie for showing up to all of the Indiana Fever games. And while she is not in the filming sessions, Clark still plays around with her teammates. Meanwhile, as the 23-year-old star guard is nursing her injury, Hull herself is pretty much injured too. However, she has decided to power through her injury and play anyway.

Lexie Hull Shares Mindset As Caitlin Clark Awaits Her Return
Clark still does not have a set return timeline. However, with the Fever getting to the playoffs, it is expected that she will be back on the team during the playoffs. On the contrary, adding to the list of injuries, Hull, too, is not all healthy. In a brutal collision with Gabby Williams, the Fever star has developed a couple of black eyes. Hull recently shared a scary injury update as well. But still, she has chosen to power through.

Speaking about her toughness, Hull said, “I’m normal. It feels normal. Honestly, I forget that I look like this. Then I look in the mirror and then I’m like, ‘Oh sh—! I actually do. I have two incredibly big black eyes.’ But I just forgot about it. I just go out and play.”
Hull further told Sportskeeda that she wants to be as impactful as possible. And in doing so, she does not feel any bodily pain as her sole aim at the moment is to get her team to the playoffs.
