The Los Angeles Sparks might be lingering in the ninth position. But they do have a lot of positives to feel upbeat about. In essence, the team has a very good chance of making it to the playoffs. And one of the biggest names that they would want to bank on is Azura Stevens. But surprisingly, despite being in tremendous form, coach Lynne Roberts had an interesting take on the 29-year-old.
Stevens is already breaking barriers this season. Showing some elite basketball display, the Rose BC star has been hitting career highs in almost every aspect. Yet, according to the HC, the 29-year-old has not unlocked her true potential yet.
Lynne Roberts Has Some Upbeat Predictions For Azura Stevens
It’s only the middle of the WNBA season, and Stevens is already making merry. She has been averaging a career high of 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, one steal, and 1.2 blocks. And that is not all. To further up her stocks, her three-point game has also witnessed some incredible improvements.
Now, there’s no denying the fact that the 29-year-old was already a recognized three-peat shooter. But in this season, her 35.7 percent has gone up to a whopping 42.3 percent. And looking at all the positives coming in, head coach Roberts has a clear prediction. She believes that if the WNBA veteran continues with her good work, she will be evolving even further.
“She [Azura Stevens] has gotten herself to another level and…it’s not the ceiling. There’s more there for her to get to,” Roberts said.
Now, Roberts’ statement does sound quite practical. Emerging in a completely new avatar, the 29-year-old has made herself a strong contender for this year’s Most Improved Player Award. Meanwhile, Stevens is not the only athlete whom Lynne has high hopes for. Despite nursing an injury, a returning Cameron Brink has wowed the Sparks’ HC.

Los Angeles Sparks Hopeful For A Playoff Run With Azura Stevens And Cameron Brink In Fine Form
Azura Stevens had her last injury-free season back in 2023. When compared to her stats back then, she has been shooting with a whole 10 percent increase in her attempts. And there is more good news for the Sparks. Making a comeback after a tough ACL injury, Cameron Brink, too, has impressed. Despite playing for only 14 minutes after a 406-day break, she earned coach Roberts’ support.
“I thought she did a good job. To be honest, she was more comfortable out there than I anticipated her to be, just because of how long she’s been out, and coming in mid-season is hard. I thought she did a good job. She was active. I need to watch it back, but I thought she did a good job,” Roberts said in the post-game interview.

Surely, with so many positives going around, the Sparks can very well push for the playoffs. And with things getting interesting, fans are now eager to see what happens next.
