The WNBA free agency is in full swing with the Los Angeles Sparks landing Nneka Ogwumike to support the young, talented roster. Although many thought Ogwumike’s destination was the Minnesota Lynx following the Balloon Company photograph, the 2016 champion chose her former side over Napheesa Collier’s partnership.
The Lynx are not giving up, though, and are looking to add an All-Star forward to boost their chances in the 2026 WNBA draft with a solid roster.

Minnesota Lynx Looking To Partner Napheesa Collier With All-Star Forward
The franchise had one of the best records and seasons in 2025 and was one of the top contenders for the championship. After a near miss in 2024, Cheryl Reeves was pushing her side for the ultimate goal, but after a loss in the semifinal, it seems like the front office pushed a snooze button, leaving the roster completely unattended.
But now, as per the reports, the team is looking to add an influential forward, Gabby Williams, in the free agency. The 2025 All-Star delivered high performances for the Seattle Storm in the latest season and finished with a career high of 11.6 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.3 steals for the former champions.

With Napheesa Collier’s latest public appearance hinting at her lengthy absence, Williams would be a key addition to the side that struggled to have a versatile star around the megastar.

While roster building is a necessity for Cheryl Reeve’s side, they have already lost too many pieces from the 2025 roster and will have to dig deep to add impactful players who match their style of play.
Minnesota Lynx Lost Too Many Players in Free Agency
The expansion draft and free agency market were opportunities for the WNBA teams to reshape their rosters and make necessary adjustments before the new season starts. Most contender teams kept their core intact and once again tried to build around the 2025 roster; even the champions handed Jackie Young a historic contract to complete their ‘retention’ process.
In Minnesota, though, the scenes are completely different. Collier is out injured, and joining her in the medical room are DiJonai Carrington and Kayla McBride. They also lost Jessica Shepard to the Dallas Wings, Maria Kliundikova to Toronto Tempo, and Bridget Carleton to Portland Fire.

Apart from this, the StudBudz, Natisha Heideman, and Courtney Williams expressed a desire to leave the team; the situation around Allana Smith is unclear, making the situation quite difficult for Reeves and co. Currently, the Lynx have only rookies Anastasiia Olairi Kosu, Jaylyn Sharrod, and Dorka Juhasz under contract alongside megastar Collier, and the team needs to act fast before the training camp.
