Stephanie White did not have a great time coaching with the Indiana Fever. And no, it did not have anything to do with any internal locker room feud. The villain for the Fever this time around was injuries. With injuries coming up constantly, Stephanie White delivered grim news for Indiana Fever fans. Thankfully, despite missing out on some important pillars of the team, Fever is still very much in the playoff contention. Unfortunately, with a defeat against the Golden State Valkyries, Natasha Howard clarified one message that the Fever head coach had.
The Golden State Valkyries romped the Fever 75-63. This means that the Caitlin Clark-less team has now suffered its third defeat in its last five games, which puts it in a precarious position for the WNBA playoffs. Thus, White took to her tough avatar and schooled her girls for inspiration.
Stephanie White Schools Natasha Howard And Co. Following Golden State Valkyries Defeat
Natasha Howard played to the best of her abilities. Dropping 13 points and six rebounds, the Fever star tried to make an impact. Powers, who has recently joined the team, also shone bright with 17 points in just 19 minutes coming off the bench. Unfortunately, all these efforts, although praiseworthy, were not enough to secure a victory for Fever.

Surely, such a situation did not sit well with head coach White. Narrating her message, Howard stated via Chloe Peterson, “That’s one thing Steph said in the locker room, every game we play from now on is a playoff game. We’re trying to stay in that playoff race and play in the postseason. Our main thing is that we focus on the scouting report of whoever we got next.”

That is one message that the Indiana Fever must abide by in the coming days. With White recently ringing the alarm bell for Fever after the recent slide, the situation looks quite tight for the team. At the moment, Indiana, Valkyries, and the Seattle Storm are separated by only 1.5 games. Thus, the likes of Aliyah Boston and Howard surely need to buckle up now. Meanwhile, following their loss, White also voiced her frustrations towards a shot clock issue.

Stephanie White Fumes Over Shot Clock Issue
White and Co. depended heavily on the hardship contract players. Unfortunately, things did not quite go well, and they failed to take Indiana over the line. However, the game also had a hindrance that the Fever head coach later pointed to. A shot clock issue had the game delayed on several occasions. Fuming over such an issue in a critical game, the 48-year-old coach stated that the hindrance was a key factor in their loss. According to White, the delays broke the rhythm, which helped the Valkyries to capitalize.

“It affected the rhythm of the game. Don’t know if it affected the readiness. We came out and weren’t ready those first five to six minutes of the quarter,” White said to the reporters after the game.
Well, Fever had a deficit of 11 points in the very first quarter. Thus, with the playoff road looking bumpy suddenly, the Fever will need to come up with a solid plan to get through.
