The race for the playoff qualification is intense, and one thing that every team is looking to avoid right now is an injury to any key player. The Indiana Fever’s recent struggles have already put them on hardship contract support, and any more injury would completely destroy their dream of qualification. Similar is the case for the Seattle Storm, who value Gabby Williams, Nneka Ogwumike and the starting guard duo as key members of their quest for postseason.
But in the recent game against the Fever, the Storm forwards bumped into Lexie Hul and hit the ground. Even though she returned to action, she was uncharacteristically off her game. Many feared serious internal injury to the player, but HC Quinn provided positive update.
Storm HC Provides Positive Update On Gabby Williams
The Indiana Fever is not new to physical plays. Still, in the previous game against the Minnesota Lynx, Aliyah Boston was shocked watching a hard foul on Lexie Hull. Kelsey Mitchell also encountered hard fouls throughout the game. But the moment with Hull nearly repeated as the player was on the ground once again, this time after a collision with a Storm forward.

Early in the first quarter, both players went for a ball, but hit each other on the head instead. The collision was so strong that both players fell on the court and were taken off. They returned after a while to contribute to an important game.
While Hull played her natural game, Williams missed many easy basket, she used to make and finished with just two points in 18 minutes. When asked about any injury concern regarding the forward, HC Quinn gave positive response.
“Gabby said she was ok, but clearly, that was a very physical hit. But she’s doing ok,” Quinn said.

Hull, who playfully showed her head-bump, also had a low scoring game (five points) but collected nine rebounds and played a vital role in the team’s 95-75 win. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boson created history with their individual performances, while Nneka Ogwumike also set a franchise record straight.
Gabby Williams Holds Key to Seattle Storm’s Success
While Nneka Ogwumike created history during the game against the Fever and normally leads the stats in games for the four-time champions, the Williams is a key member of the team’s success so far. Clocking most minutes in the 2025 season, the 28-year-old forward impacts both ends of the floor.
She is the Storm’s leader in steals while ranking fourth in rebounds and points. The former UConn star’s absence even impacted the recent game against the Fever. HC admitted that the team’s play was flat from the start (since Williams’ injury). Now that both players are back healthy, they will look to improve their team’s record to push for postseason qualification
