There were many unsung heroes for the Indiana Fever during its impressive 2025 WNBA Season run, but one that stood out and even made it to the MVP credentials was Kelsey Mitchell. The player put the franchise on her back in the absence of other star players as the team reached the WNBA semifinals.
After the conclusion of the season, the player got emotional, remembering her late father and shared a post calling her season ‘survival mode’. Caitlin Clark expresses gratitude for the player’s contribution, and fellow guard Odyssey Sims praised the former Ohio State player’s one exceptional quality.
Odyssey Sims Shout Out for Kelsey Mitchell’s Special Ability On Court
Playing in her eighth season, the former second overall pick nearly won a championship for the Indiana Fever team. All those seasons, she had been the team’s core player who delivered high numbers. But 2025 was her best chance to win it all.

But after falling short again, she shared an emotional post remembering her father’s lessons and readiness to face the upcoming challenges. Her post received lots of love from Fever fans and players, but one comment that stood out was from Odyssey Sims, who especially highlighted KM’s trait that played a massive part in her rise.
“Lefty, you are the coldest!! it was an HONOR to play with you this season! Love you,” Odyssey Sims commented.

With this, the veteran guard highlighted one lesser-appreciated quality of the three-time All-Star – her clutch plays. Although there were rare moments when KM netted a game-winner for Stephanie White’s team, she was the ‘go-to’ player for the 48-year-old coach, who scored in bulk during pressure situations, maintaining her composure to turn the game in her team’s favor.
Mitchell’s career-best season proved to be a savior for the Indiana Fever, and the guard received much appreciation for that. Mitchell even earned high praise from the Indiana Fever assistant Coach Karima Christmas-Kelly, who has worked with the player since 2023.
Sophie Cunningham, Aliyah Boston, And Other Salute Kelsey Mitchell’s Extra-Ordinary Season
While Caitlin Clark and Odyssey Sims gave the 29-year-old guard her flowers, every 2025 Indiana Fever member had their memories and adjectives for the star. Sophie Cunningham lauded her as “everyone’s GOAT”, while Aliyah Boston called her ‘realest in the game. Sydney Colson also shared the same emotions for Mitchell.
Damiris Dantas gave her two red hearts, and fellow forward Makayla Timson called Micthell her favorite veteran. Mid-season acquisitions Aari McDonald, Shey Peddy, and Aerial Powers also responded to KM’s post, mentioning that they are proud of her.
Natasha Howard had the longest comment on the Fever guard’s post as she wrote, “Kelz I’m super grateful that I had the opportunity to play with you and get to you know as a person. I already know how you are as a person, but you as a person is priceless, and I’m thankful that I can call you family, hopefully we can be playing next to each other again. Love you longtime.”
While the 2018 rookie won over fans with her gameplay on the court, she created a special place in her teammates’ hearts for sure.
