Paige Bueckers spent her summer turning heads on WNBA courts, but her fall schedule just got a lot more glamorous. After sparking curiosity with Angel Reese’s linkup, she’s off to something even bigger.
The Dallas Wings guard, fresh off a Rookie of the Year nod, is stepping into a starring role and behind the camera for an Apple Original Films project.
It’s the kind of pivot that fits a player who’s already rewritten records from UConn to the pros.
Paige Bueckers Making Hollywood Debut With Jess & Pearl
Bueckers’ move to the screen comes at a time when women’s basketball stories are pulling bigger audiences than ever. With her on-court story still unfolding, this film lets her shape one from the script pages.

However, word broke on Wednesday from Deadline that Bueckers will star in Jess & Pearl, a drama set in the cutthroat world of women’s college basketball. Apple Original Films is backing the project, built from an original idea by former Scandal writer Zahir McGhee.

The story tracks two phenoms who start as close teammates, only for fame, fierce competition, and the business side of the sport to sour their bond into a heated rivalry.
Additionally, Bueckers will play one of the leads while executive producing, marking her first major swing at acting. Producers include David Bernad of The White Lotus through Middle Child Pictures, plus Lindsay Kagawa Colas and Tommy Alter from Wasserman.
No release date yet, but the timing aligns with Apple’s push into sports dramas, following hits like the Sue Bird documentary. Let’s wait to see how the Wings fanbase reacts after cooking theories after Bueckers’ rumored collab with Reese.
Paige Bueckers Is Having A Great WNBA Offseason
Bueckers hasn’t let the pro grind slow her creative side. Last week, she flew back to Storrs for UConn’s “A Night With Champions,” where the Huskies handed out rings for their 2025 title run.
Teaming up with guards Azzi Fudd and Caroline Ducharme, Bueckers poured over designs that captured the season’s highs. It was a silver base with a gold trophy draped in net, blue stones spelling “UConn” over 12 trapezoids for the program’s championships.
For anyone who’s interested, the five triangle stones nod to UConn’s five straight Big East tournament wins, etched beside Gampel Pavilion’s outline.
