The reigning NCAA Champions were at the arena with determination to defend their title with some new faces and familiar stars. While the team delivered a controlled performance in the game, the star of the night was former UConn player Paige Bueckers, who stole the show with her presence.
During the game, Bueckers describes a “surreal feeling” after attending a UConn Huskies game, but it was a normal night for the superstar, who spent most of her time in the arena, signing autographs for the fans. Yet there was a special gesture she showed during the autograph signing.
Paige Bueckers Clicks Photo With Navy Band
UConn assistant coach Chris Dailey was back to his usual work as he was taking the megastar away from the crowd, looking to take photos and autograph with PB. However, one sign from the Navy band that read, “Paige, pic with band,” caught the WNBA Rookie of the Year’s eyes as he stopped and honored their request.

After the game, she held the sign and clicked a photo with the band. Bueckers also spent some time with the Navy women’s basketball team courtside after the game, taking another photo with them and chatting with assistant coach Sam Brunelle.

Paige Bueckers With Funny ‘Clap Back’ At UConn Social Media Post
Throughout her career, the Wings’ guard has never let her opponent get over her. She hit back and won both on and off the court. So when the UConn Huskies’ social media admin tried to take a funny jab at its former player, the All-American didn’t let that go.
The UConn official account’s post reads, “like how did you get our warmup top, you don’t even go here.” But Paige, being Paige, gave it back to the jab and wrote, “Run it back, year 6!”

The star would be hoping to see UConn star Azzi Fudd at the Dallas franchise in the upcoming season. While Fudd is one of the top five prospects for the 2026 WNBA draft, it will be interesting to see whether the Wings get to draft her, or even more, whether the team will choose any other player over her in the draft.
