The 2026 WNBA draft is still two months away, with the NCAA tournament deciding the fate of multiple senior players. UCLA could shatter the record with a draft record of six players on the verge. Another team that could come close to their huge number is the South Carolina Gamecocks. Unlike UCLA, they might not have certain players on the WNBA team’s wish-list, but Raven Johnson is making a strong case for herself.
The former Westlake star is on a solid scoring run, and her performance against LSU puts her amongst the elite scorers in the league at the moment.

Raven Johnson’s Scoring Spree Putting WNBA Teams On Alert
The 5-foot-8 guard might not be the explosive scorer on the court, but she is a consistent one who delivers against top teams night in and night out. In the recent game, she scored a career-high 19 points against the top defensive team, the LSU Tigers, which is once again a reminder to the WNBA team to consider the prolific scorer.
She converted three of her five attempted shots and also provided seven assists and collected six rebounds in the game.

It was not the only game where she thrived for the Gamecocks. So far this season, the side has played eight ranked opponents and won seven games. Interestingly, in their only loss, Johnson struggled to score in double digits, which was her worst game and the team’s worst loss.

It was not only her output in recent games that impressed her coach; she also lauded her guard following a victory over arch-rivals USC.
Dawn Staley Backs Raven Johnson For WNBA
Multiple WNBA Superstars went through Coach Staley’s system. A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston are recent examples who are currently leading the league on multiple stats and making a huge impact for their teams. Johnson could be the next such superstar, according to the coach, who would be a first-round pick in the upcoming draft.
Midway in November, after a win over USC Trojans, Staley said, “If WNBA teams want to have the amount of success we had with her in the lineup, they will take Raven in the first round.”

The player’s efficient season is raising her chances of getting into the WNBA, though maybe not in the first round. The 22-year-old won two NCAA Championships with the South Carolina team and will look to continue her winning momentum in the WNBA, too.
