It’s clearly a ‘Stranger Things’ vibe at the Indiana Fever. Expect the unexpected from the franchise, looking to push for a higher ranking in the playoffs. While the fans were celebrating the win over the Aces and awaiting an update on Caitlin Clark’s return, the front office signed another player on a seven-day hardship contract – forward Chloe Bibby.
With roster space already maxed out, fans are puzzled by the news of a new addition. But this could be a smart move for the future or even a long-term addition to the side. Here is what the Fever mentioned about their new signing.
Indiana Fever Adds Forward Chloe Bibby On Seven-Day Contract
The 2012 champions are making some strong moves in the midseason. They added Aari McDonald on a hardship contract, a move that worked well, and offered her a season-long contract. Now, the change is made at the frontcourt.
On July 25, the side announced the signing of 27-year-old forward Chloe Bibby. The Australian played for the Golden State Valkyries earlier this season, averaging 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. The Valks waived her on June 30, making her an unrestricted free agent.

“Earlier this month, Bibby helped lead her national team, the Australia Opals, to a gold medal in the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia World Cup. Two years prior, Bibby also guided the Opals to a bronze medal in the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Sydney,” the team mentioned in an official announcement statement.
In the 2023-24 season, she won the Polish League MVP with AZS AJP Gorzow Wielkopolski. The impressive performer continued her run the next season and won the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto MVP with Spar Girona in Spain. With vast experience at the top level, the youngster could be a good addition for Caitlin Clark and co.

Chloe Bibby Is A Smart Addition To The Indiana Fever Roster
The team is stuck in the mid-table standings with 19 games remaining in the regular season. Adding Aari McDonald strengthens its backcourt, and coach White is happy with her new signing. But the side struggles to find the perfect mix at the frontcourt. Natasha Howard and Aliyah Boston are clocking in more minutes than expected, especially with DeWanna Bonner leaving the side.

Damaris Dantas and Brianna Turner have been inconsistent with Coach White using them for 19 minutes combined. Apart from these designated bigs, Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull are filling up at the forward position, but mostly play at the number 3 position. Moving them closer to the rim would impact the defensive shape and the fastbreak offence.
The Australian star’s addition would solve multiple issues, with her providing a better defensive presence off the bench and handy points. The seven-day contract will also put pressure on Turner and Dantas to perform, getting the most out of their season-long signings.
Only time will tell how well this move will work, but the Fever is taking the championship race seriously, which is an encouraging sign for the fans.
