By now, the WNBA should have completed free agency and started preparing for the draft. Unfortunately, with the CBA controversy getting out of bounds, there is no set timeline for when the WNBA draft will happen. The situation has gone so far that Naphesa Collier said she would prefer to sit out of games than cave in to the WNBA’s contract.
And that creates a problem because this year’s draft features stacked talent. As young players from the NCAA and overseas continue to make headlines, the WNBA would add significant quality to its rosters. For example, the likes of Olivia Miles are already a top draft prospect this year. And now, with the surge of Richmond star Maggie Doogan, the list is looking more stacked than ever.

Maggie Doogan Can Be The Next Big Star To Watch Out For In The WNBA Draft
Richmond is taking their competition by storm at the moment. In their recent encounter against Davidson, Richmond notched up its 11th back-to-back victory, pushing strongly for the championship. And one player that has stood out among others has been Maggie Doogan. Playing Davidson on February 14, the Broomall-born dropped 26 points with six rebounds.
Interestingly, as Doogan took control of the court, outside of it, representatives from at least three WNBA teams watched her closely at the Belk Arena. And why not? With her stellar play this season, the Spiders’ senior forward notched up 2000 career points. She became only the third player in program history to do so.
Speaking with ‘USA Today Sports,’ head coach Aaron Roussell stated, “People don’t realize, like, this was done in four years, right? This is not 2,000 points over five years. It was just a calm. She made the right decisions, and it helps when you’re making shots. Just really, really proud of her overall, what she’s done at this level and what she’s done for this program. It’s really hard to top.”

Surely, such a strong surge will boost her stocks in the upcoming draft. Especially with the Dallas Wings looking for a suitable partner to pair up with Paige Bueckers.
However, Doogan will have some stiff competition if she wants to wear the Wings’ jersey. For Spanish star Awa Fam has been touted as a hot favorite to join Bueckers and co.
Awa Fam Is Expected To Take The WNBA Draft And Dallas Wings By Storm

With Olivia Miles, Lauren Betts, and Azzi Fudd dominating the spotlight, the Dallas Wings suddenly find themselves spoiled for choice. However, they would soon need to decide on who they want to build up as a perfect partner for Bueckers. And according to Michael Waterloo, nobody can be better than Fam.
“The rise of Awa Fam is happening sooner than most expected. It makes sense, though, as the 19-year-old phenom has everything that WNBA general managers want in today’s game. She’s 6-foot-6 with great lateral quickness, soft hands, ability to pass at a high level as a big, and switch defensively with good instincts,” Waterloo wrote.
