The Indiana Fever’s Game 1 win over the Las Vegas Aces was a statement win for many reasons. They not only took a lead in the series but also showcased their ability to challenge the elites of the league. Sophie Cunningham was proud of her teammates for the performance. The Indiana Fever fans even trolled ESPN after a bold Las Vegas Aces Game 1 prediction.
While the Fever enjoyed success in the opening game, the 29-year-old forward wanted the Aces, especially A’ja Wilson, to acknowledge the Fever’s ‘better gameplay’.
Sophie Cunningham Criticizes A’ja Wilson
Just before Game 1 of the WNBA Semifinals, Wilson won her record-setting fourth MVP award. But on the night, it was the Indiana Fever who ruled the Michelob ULTRA Arena. They were all over the court, putting pressure on the Aces’ offensive players and defeating the 2023 champions by 16 points.

Aliyah Boston, in particular, was excellent on the night, guarding superstar A’ja Wilson. Though she scored just six points in the game, HC Stephanie White was happy despite Boston’s low scoring efforts at the defensive end. Cunningham also highlighted the same in her recent podcast episode and criticized A’ja Wilson for not acknowledging the ‘fact’.
“The Aces… they had media the next day, and they gave us no credit. Especially like A’ja, she’s like, ‘Oh, I just played bad.’ I’m like, dude, AB [Aliyah Boston] had you in clamps, my girl,” Cunningham said in her podcast.

Wilson scored just 16 points on dreadful 6-for-22 shooting. Although the MVP mentioned that she played badly, she could have also credited the 24-year-old Fever forward for her defense. Cunningham added that the Aces were the better team in Game 2 as they leveled the series with a massive 22-point victory.
Sophie Cunningham And Caitlin Clark Lead Cheering Group In Game 3
With the series tied at 1-1 before Game 3, the Fever had home-court advantage. They needed to win the first game to put pressure back on the Aces. Although out for the season due to injury, Caitlin Clark and Cunningham knew their role in the game and started with their cheering even before the tip-off.
In the packed Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the duo started dancing to the music and waving the jersey to hype up their team and get the crowd involved. CC even missed her Hall of Fame Induction to support her Fever team. While their efforts energized the fans and players, the Aces were determined and clinical in the game. Jackie Young led the charge in game 3 with 25 points, while Wilson scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds in an 84-72 win to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
