The WNBA-WNBPA are working to get the CBA terms on the table, allowing the league to start the season on May 8. Another target on everyone’s mind is 13 April, which is the date for the WNBA draft, deciding the future path of top college players like Azzi Fudd, Lauren Betts and Olivia Miles.
Although there is still uncertainty over the schedules, there have been multiple mock drafts predicting different top picks for the Wings with analysis. Sophie Cunningham also showed uncertainty over the 2026 season, but recently spoke about top WNBA prospects, especially the two who are in talks for the top pick.

Sophie Cunningham Provides Her Assessment Of Lauren Betts
During her ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, Cunningham mentioned that she misses the college game atmosphere. While many college players are preparing for their run towards the NCAA Championship, the Fever star gave her views on the top draft prospects. She sees Azzi Fudd as a possible top pick by the Wings and mentioned that Betts will need to work a bit to make a huge impact.
“She’s dynamic, and she can shoot. She’s a smart and a team player,” Cunningham said. “I also think if I were on a team that needs a big, I would get the UCLA girl, Betts. She’s big. She has a lot of potential. She needs some work, but she has a great body and a great feel for the game. She’d be good.”

With that, Betts became the first player in the history of the Big Ten to win both the Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. The player said transferring from Stanford backup to UCLA was one of her best decisions, and her numbers clearly back her statement.
Moreover, the player is leading the program all-time in blocks and blocks per game. Betts is also fourth in program history in rebounds with 323. Monique Billings is the current leader at 357, and with UCLA’s deep run, the 22-year-old can break that record too.
