The WNBA is facing a very dangerous situation with the in-arena fans. For the fourth time in a week, a questionable object was thrown at the players in action. The Indiana Fever was playing against the Los Angeles Sparks at the Crypto.com Arena. Close to half-time, Fever forward Sophie Cunningham dodged a sex toy thrown from the stands.
The shameful event at the iconic arena was shocking. Angry with the act, the Sparks HC Lynne Roberts reacted to the incident.
Sparks HC Lynne Roberts Reacts To Dildo Thrown At Sophie Cunningham
The incident took place with just over two minutes left in the second quarter. As Kelsey Plum drained her free throw, the officials blew a whistle following a dildo thrown towards players. The 28-year-old forward was closest to the dildo as she dodged the object.
Kelsey Plum, seemingly frustrated with the action, kicked it back in the stands while the referee called players to get the game started as quickly as possible. When asked about the incident, Sparks HC had a rather fierce response.
“I think it’s ridiculous, it’s dumb, it’s stupid. It’s also dangerous, and players’ safety is number one. Respecting the game. All those things. I think it’s really stupid,” an angry HC told the press. (Via X/BenGeffner).

The LA guard, Plum, was happy with the players’ attitude. The game was unaffected by the event, and the referees were also quick to get the game on.

This is the fourth such event in a week, with the first incident happening at the Atlanta Dream’s home court, where the dildo didn’t reach the court. The police arrested the offender, as per reports. Similarly, at the Barclays Center, the sex toy fell short and landed in the crowd. Also, the projectile halted the game between the Chicago Sky and Golden State Valkyries.
Sophie Cunningham Remains Unfazed By The Incident
The player closest to the object thrown was the Fever’s star forward. First, she dodged the NSFW object and walked towards the Sparks bench. The event shocked the LA players, and they were just discussing it. But the mood got lighter when Cunningham laughed off the incident and shared it with the opposing team players.

Starting the game for the Indiana Fever, the Missouri star clocked 26 minutes for the side. She scored just eight points, but was effective on the defensive end. The forward drained two ranged attempts to put her side closer to the Sparks’ lead. She also led the side with two steals in the game.
But her efforts couldn’t prevent a defeat against the Sparks. Hosts recorded a 100-91 win, snapping the Fever’s five-game winning run. The side also has 3-0 lead in the season series against Caitlin Clark’s side in 2025.
