The scenes at the Los Angeles Sparks headquarters were joyous a season ago. The franchise had the number 2 overall pick in the talented 2024 WNBA draft. The front office had its eyes set on a forward, Cameron Brink, who had a tremendous collegiate career and was a perfect fit for their plan going ahead. Her debut season was also perfect until an ACL injury shortened it to 15 games.
The player missed 15 months, and fans were waiting for news on her return. On July 13, a few sudden transactions again ignited the Stanford star’s return. Later in the evening, Sparks’ head coach, Lynne Roberts, broke the positive news.
Sparks HC Confirms Approximate Schedule For Cameron Brink Return
On Saturday morning, the team practice went normally, with one player catching everyone’s attention: the 6-foot-4 forward, Spark’s top pick in the 2024 draft. She held five-on-five practice and had been showing up in the facilities for a while now, hinting at complete recovery.
After practice, HC Roberts gave the much-awaited nod to the 23-year-old forward’s return. But it won’t be within a week. Instead, it would be around the end of July.
“She’s coming back, it’s all going to take time. We all need to have patience with that; she’s been out for 15 months. It’s hard to just jump in and hit the ground running where you left. It’s going to take some time, and I’m fine with that,” Roberts told John W. Davis of the Press-Telegram.

The star hasn’t played a competitive game since June 2024, and her return from the ACL injury must be treated well to avoid further damage.

The move was expected, with the franchise opening a spot for the talented forward in the lineup, waiving the player in the forward position earlier. This confirmation seals the possible replacement for the outgoing player, shutting down any rumors about a new arrival.
Cameron Brink Would Be A Massive Addition To The Roster
The Stanford forward would be a significant addition to the Los Angeles Sparks roster. Her height and athleticism, along with her rebounding and shot-blocking abilities. It could make her a valuable asset, especially if she can return from her recent ACL injury at full strength. Additionally, the Sparks have talented guard Kelsey Plum, who could help Brink in the pick and roll and post-game.

The team ranks 12th in the league with a 108.3 defensive rating. The defensively strong Brink will solidify the rim protection and allow others to focus on the wings. Moreover, her shooting prowess will give her an advantage, though she might carry the defensive load more.
Even before her return, the player connected well with her teammates. It will be easy for her to transition into the lineup.
