The Indiana Fever did it again, stunning all the predictions, as they defeated the second-seeded Las Vegas Aces at Michelob ULTRA Arena. On the night when A’ja Wilson won her record fourth MVP award, Kelsey Mitchell and co. delivered a fatal blow to title contenders with an 89-73 win. Surprisingly, star forward Aliyah Boston scored just six points.
The 2023 rookie was the key offensive player in the series against the Atlanta Dream. Boston and Lexie Hull powered the Indiana Fever to the semifinal, but in game 1 of the series against AB scored just six points. Yet HC Stephnie White was not concerned about her ‘single digit’ score.
Stephanie White Emphasizes Aliyah Boston’s Key Traits In Game
The Indiana Fever vs the Las Vegas Aces was always going to be an entertaining encounter, with both teams entering the court having different team dynamics and form. Even though the Aces are heavily reliant on A’ja Wilson, the Fever looked to counter her with a number of forward players trying to defend her.

Still, Stephanie White needed her forwards to share the offensive load. So when Boston added just six points in the game, an interviewer asked the Fever HC about her views.
“The good thing about AB is that she is such a good decision maker; she doesn’t force things that aren’t there. But because of her gravity (attracting opposition defense), that opens up a cut for Breezy, that opens up lanes for our drivers. It opened up a rotational opportunity for us to get to the free-throw line,” White said in a post-game interview.

While the 2023 rookie of the year winner didn’t score much in the game, she limited A’ja Wilson to 16 points in the game. The player also reflected on her defensive strategy against the former champion.
Aliyah Boston Admits Annoying A’ja Wilson
The key to winning against the Las Vegas Aces was stopping in-form A’ja Wilson. The forward averaged nearly 30 points and eight rebounds in the 2025 postseason games. Sophie Cunningham teased a secret weapon against A’ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces, in the WNBA playoffs, hinting at an exciting matchup between former South Carolina stars. And AB came out victorious in game 1 with a master plan.
“Honestly, just trying to kind of be annoying a little bit, because A’ja is a pretty great player. So for me, just trying to make sure my presence is felt,” Boston told reporters.
While it can’t be a blueprint to stop the 2025 regular-season MVP, the Fever took a 1-0 lead in the semifinal and will have a chance to seal the series at home.
