The Indiana Fever are on a five-game winning streak. The run that many imagined Caitlin Clark would lead, but the team won all five games without its playmaker. The superstar is also happy with the current form, but could just be a supporter from the sidelines.
The team is enjoying the success, coach Stephanie White has found a small positive from CC’s absence and called it a blessing in disguise.
HC Stephanie White Sees Caitlin Clark’s Absence As Blessing In Disguise
After back-to-back defeats against the defending champions, the New York Liberty, Stephanie White’s team won five games in a row. Interestingly, a few were dominant victories, while the recent one was a close win over the Seattle Storm. The average point differential in these wins was nine points, which was a strong outing by the team.
More importantly, in this seven-game run, the 2024 first overall pick was out of rotation, attracting praises from the analysts and fans alike. When asked about the reaction from White, HC said it’s a blessing in disguise.
“I said it early when C was out the very first time. While we don’t like it, sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise, because everybody else finds themselves. No one is afraid to make the big play offensively and defensively,” HC said in a postgame interview (Via X/clrkszn).
The head coach mentioned that the team is unselfish, wants to win, and plays well together. The Aces’ coach also highlighted similar sentiments and lauded Fever depth. These are great comments from the 48-year-old coach, who also highlighted the mistakes her team made in the game against the Dallas Wings.

In CC’s absence, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Natasha Howard stepped up with big numbers. Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, and Lexie Hull also provided healthy support. Rookie Makayla Timpson also showed her capabilities against the Sky. The average age of the Fever team is 28.6 years, with a chance of improvement at every level. The return of their Rookie of the Year winner will make them a top candidate for the title if they continue to play in a similar manner.
Stephanie White Talks About Caitlin Clark’s Return
Winning without Clark seems commendable. But losses against the Liberty highlight the need for the star playmaker in the lineup. Top teams like the Mercury, Liberty, and Lynx could be a major challenge for the side without the former Iowa star.
Stephanie white knows that and wants to keep her star player 100% for these challenging games.
“I know she wants to be out here on the floor, and we want her out here on the floor, but making sure that she’s ready is the most important thing. I still don’t know how far we are. We’re going to take it one step at a time, one day at a time, and go from there,” said White in the postgame interview. (Via X/undefined)

Even though the exact date is not mentioned, fans will be waiting for CC’s return to be part of this glorious run.
