Preparing for Game 4 of the WNBA semifinal series against the Las Vegas Aces, the Indiana Fever must go through the two losses they suffered. Game 2 was a blowout win for the Aces, while the Fever gave a tough fight in Game 3, looking to hold on to its home court advantage. Although they lost the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena, Lexie Hull’s performance was a bright spot for the hosts.
Hull powered the Indiana Fever to the WNBA semifinals in a dramatic win over the Atlanta Dream, and now she is playing a key role in the series against the Aces. Acknowledging the forward’s impact, HC Stephanie White had some encouraging words for the forward. She praised her ‘toughness’ and ability to overcome adversity.
Stephanie White Hypes Lexie Hull’s ‘Tough Kid’ Mentality
Many coaches and players complained about the physicality of the game in the WNBA. Remarkably few players overcame the said adversity and still shone on the court. Indiana Fever’s forward is one of the prominent names on that list.

No one could forget her ‘black eye’ game against the Los Angeles Sparks, and also the brutal hits she faced throughout the regular season. However, the 2021 NCAA champion remained one of only four Fever players to play in all 44 games. While Hull brutally spoke about hitting the floor often, her coach sees positives in those knocks.
“She’s just tough. I mean, she’s just hard-nosed. She’s just a tough kid. And, you know, she’s able to play through levels, certain levels of pain that would sideline most people, you know, I certainly have a respect for the way that she’s able to do that, and her capability of doing that, and her toughness is an example for us, right?” White said after a loss in Game 3 against the Aces.
"She's just tough. I mean, she's just hard nosed. She's just a tough kid."

In Game 3, when other fever players were struggling to find the bottom of the net, the versatile star made five three-pointers and was the highest scorer for the team with high efficiency. She even collected 10 rebounds, completing a double-double in the game.
During the interview, White also added that other players find it tough to play in the playoffs after a long regular season and surviving the physicality of the league. While the former Stanford player proved her toughness on the court, maybe it’s time for her to step up a bit and take more responsibilities in games.
Lexie Hull Could Be ‘X-Factor’ For Indiana Fever
With five-star players out injured, the onus was on Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell to carry the team forward. While both players successfully delivered on the floor, the top defensive teams held them to around 15 points in games, impacting the Fever’s offensive flow. During this stretch, the 26-year-old star stepped up with some clutch plays on both ends of the floor.
In the second half of the 2024 season, the Fever team used her ability score’ corner three-pointers’ to open up spaces and win games. The forward is also a very handy defender, averaging around a steal and a block in games.
In a must-win situation, Hull could play a vital role, sharing some offensive load with Kelsey Mitchell and guarding the perimeter players to cut the inside-out passes from A’ja Wilson and NaLyssa Smith.
