There are just under two weeks remaining for the current CBA deadline, which once again raises the possibility of a lockdown in the 2026 season. In contrast, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver are optimistic about finding a solution in time. Though there are a few negotiation points for the coaches in the discussion, the Fever HC Stephanie White stepped in with her demands.
The 48-year-old coach discussed her first CBA negotiation, which she experienced as a player in the league, and her current experience as a coach of a franchise. The Fever HC demanded fair terms and also made a special request.
Stephanie White Shows Support For WNPBA’s Demands
While the CBA negotiation remains the hot topic in the WNBA at the moment, Adam Silver agreed on a ‘significant pay raise’ for the players. WNBA players’ association fires back at Adam Silver‘s revenue share comments, staying firm on its demands. The Fever HC weighed in with her views, but mentioned that she is remotely related to the CBA discussions.

“I don’t have the same experience in the CBA as these players do. I was a part of the very first CBA agreement, where we wanted insurance all year round, because we just had insurance during the season. Now, I think it’s really important to have a fair and equitable agreement for both sides,” White told the Fever insider Chloe Peterson.
She entered the league as a player in 1999 when the first CBA was agreed upon for the basic needs of the players. After five seasons, she transitioned to coaching before assuming the head coaching role of the Indiana Fever in 2015. Now, a decade later, she is once again facing another CBA negotiation, but more as a spectator.
Yet, considering the player’s demands and the league’s position, the former Sun Coach is expecting a fair and equitable agreement that will ensure the start of the 2026 season. She even has some demands of her own for the franchise.

Stephanie White To Negotiate With Uncertain Indiana Fever Strategy
It was a memorable 2025 season for the Indiana Fever, who dealt with several star players’ absences throughout the year. However, the upcoming season will also bring new uncertainty, as the CBA discussions remain unfinished. The franchises are seeking larger roster sizes and a substantial increase in cap space to accommodate their star players.
HC White talked in detail about the needs as she said, “I think it’s really important, I think we all want to see roster sizes expand, as well, to make sure that we’re not in situations where we’re having … four or five hardship contracts or something throughout the course of the year. And we’re developing young talent in our league. There are a lot of players who deserve an opportunity to develop in the WNBA that aren’t on teams.”

For the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Makayla Timpson are still under rookie contracts, with no players on their books for the 2026 season. Following their heroic season, many Fever players are on the radar of other franchises, such as Kelsey Mitchell, who is a key target for two WNBA teams. At the same time, analysts see Odyssey Sims as a perfect fit for the expansion teams.
Even though management is looking to retain its stars, as Clark mentioned, the side will lose many of its players from the 2025 roster.
