When she dunked in the EuroCup, Dominique Malonga was already grabbing attention. Her footwork and positioning made her a unique star who could easily swoop in the ‘W’. Seattle Storm picked her in the 2025 WNBA draft and had been patient with her development, giving her scope to adjust to the league.
But the French star had been on the progressive curve and had already registered a record even after averaging just over 10 minutes for the side.
Dominique Malonga Creates WNBA History
In the recent game against the Indiana Fever, she scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds coming off the bench. Her fifth rebound completed a century of rebounds in the league after just 27 games. With that, she became the youngest player to score 100 points and 100 rebounds at 19 years and 260 days.
The star had already made a mark as the youngest player to record a double-double in the WNBA with her strong outing against the Chicago Sky. As a foreign player, the Seattle star had the opportunity to join the league early. For US college players, it’s 22 years, while for foreign players, it’s 19 years.
Despite her great performance, the home side lost to the surging Indiana Fever team. Aliyah Boston and Sophie Cunningham led the visitors to the 78-74 win. The Storm will next play against the Minnesota Lynx on August 5.
