With the 2025 season under the wraps, many eyes are on the upcoming season and the deep, talented pool of young stars. With many players like Azzi Fudd, Lauren Betts, and Kiki Rice in the mix, many draft predictions are already finding it difficult to determine the picks.
A few college players are already aligning with senior basketball leagues. JuJu Watkins, Azzi Fudd among 14 NCAA stars signing Unrivaled NIL deals. Amid this, legendary guard Sue Bird has advice for her UConn superstar.
Sue Bird With Special Advice for Azzi Fudd
Attending the ‘Fudd Around And Find Out’, former NCAA champion and UConn idol Sue Bird advised the star to enjoy her college’s final year. She added that UConn gets players ready both physically and mentally for the WNBA. Yet warned her that adjustment will be there to match the veteran players. The gold medalist guard still emphasized soaking in the final season in college.

“I feel like there are a couple of moments where it’s cliche to say like make sure you’re soaking it all in, but this is one of those moments where, you know, it’s your last, right? Sometimes we don’t know what’s going to happen. You know, it’s your last year. So, I think you can definitely take a couple of moments here and there and just kind of look around and enjoy it all,” Bird said.
Sue Bird mentioned that she enjoyed her college years where the pressure was not much, and she could focus on her game, teammates, and basketball. So, even though adjustments are needed, the payer would be preparing for the entire season.
Sue Bird added, “Really just enjoy now. That’s definitely my main goal: to enjoy everything about this year. my teammates, the coaches, like you said, like there is stuff you need to worry about, but we really truly are in a little bubble here and can’t take that for granted. Yeah, it’s nice. It’s a nice life.”

Azzi Fudd Reveals One WNBA Player She Idolized Growing Up
While the star forward is the top player of one of the most storied programs in women’s basketball, Fudd revealed her favorite WNBA star who is not from the same program. Attending the WNBA All-Star game, the 22-year-old spoke highly bout many players but mentioned that her favorite player is Natasha Cloud.
“Gosh, I met so many people. It was really fun to see players, like, I’m a big fan of Natasha Cloud, I love her. She played for the Mystics, like she’s one of my favorite players growing up. She made me love watching the Mystics, and when she got traded, I don’t see her as much. So being able to see her, it was like fun,” Fudd said on the Podcast.
Cloud was a member of the 2015 draft class, and the Mystics drafted the guard as the 15th pick. She won the title with the Capital City franchise and later moved to the Liberty side in 2025.
