Things are looking pretty grim for the Chicago Sky. With Angel Reese on their side, the team had some lofty dreams at the start of the season. Unfortunately, none of those expectations have come true. And with each passing game, Sky is going further down. And after their recent blowout loss against the Golden State Valkyries, head coach Tyler Marsh clarified the one person who must be blamed.
Playing without Reese, Chicago squared off against the Valkyries. As the game went on, it turned out to be a nightmarish affair for the side. Succumbing to a 59-90 defeat, the team’s morale looked pretty much crushed. Meanwhile, trying to find answers amidst darkness, Marsh pointed out how things had gone so out of hand.
Tyler Marsh Comes Up With A Harsh Self-Reflection Following Chicago Sky’s Blowout Loss
The loss against Golden State marked Chicago’s fourth consecutive defeat. While they have lost 25 games this season, their recent form has been abysmal. Out of the ten games the team has played, they managed to win only once, losing on the other nine occasions. To further add to their worries, Chicago’s mainstay, Reese, is down with injury. Surprisingly, trying to analyze where exactly the things went wrong, Marsh readily pointed the finger towards none other than himself.
Interacting with Karli Bell, the Sky HC initially stated that the underperforming issue is a collective one. However, the 37-year-old next stated that despite trying different combinations, he has failed to motivate the team this season.
“We’ve tried different things. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it hasn’t. I just got to be better for them,” said Marsh.

The HC further stated that his team’s performance in the second half was quite tough to watch. They scored only 19 points and were outperformed by the Valkyries by a whopping 29 points. However, Marsh was reluctant to call out any of his players despite the lackluster showing. Owing to such a supportive stance from the HC, Sky’s players, too, are not shy about defending their coach.

Elizabeth Williams Stood Up For Tyler Marsh Following Seattle Storm’s Defeat
In late July, the Chicago Sky suffered yet another humiliating defeat against the Seattle Storm. Losing by a heavy margin of 38 points, coach Marsh was widely criticized. However, Elizabeth Williams came to the aid of their head coach. She stated that it was the players who failed to implement the tactics on the court.
“It’s starts with us. I don’t think it’s anything Tyler’s doing to be honest with you. We haven’t executed. We haven’t taken care of the ball,“ Williams told reporters.

Thus, it is certain that the Chicago Sky’s season this year is almost over. Now, trying to rebuild, fans would be eager to see how Marsh can improve the side and make things better in the long run.
