The Chicago Sky looked eager to step up their game ahead of the season. Unfortunately, they suffered one of the biggest setbacks. With their star player, Angel Reese, out with a back injury, the wheels are seemingly coming off their campaign. Thankfully, despite all the sombre scenes, a ray of hope has emerged for the Sky in the form of Kamilla Cardoso.
Now, make no mistake, the Chicago-based side is still slumping. In their recent game, they squared off against the Connecticut Sun. And while they lost the game 62-71, the faces in the locker room looked gloomy with a significant number of drooped shoulders. But amidst all the negatives, coach Tyler Marsh had some positive words to share about the 2024 rookie.

In the absence of Reese, Cardoso tried to put her foot on the pedal. Displaying some impeccable skills on the hardwood, the Brazilian star made a strong statement. She chipped in with 24 points on a losing cause. And that was not all. The former South Carolina star also chipped in with nine rebounds and three assists. Surely, such a performance was bound to make the coach take note, and Marsh sounded pretty gleeful.
“Kamilla was great,” Marsh said. “Her energy was great. Her assertiveness was great. She was locked in during timeouts. She was there for her teammates the whole game.”
