The Chicago Sky never got off to a strong start; instead, they set an unwanted record of the longest losing streak in the 2025 WNBA season. The negative signs were already there, as fans couldn’t see any improvements on the roster or performances despite the slow start. First-year head coach Tyler Marsh got emotional talking to the press after the early exit from the season.
The former Aces assistant coach tried to find positives from the abysmal season, but as per reports he couldn’t control his emotions over the uncertain future.
Tyler Marsh’s Emotional Response To Chicago Sky’s Early Exit
With prior experience working with strong forwards from championship sides like the Las Vegas Aces and the Toronto Raptors, the 37-year-old coach looked like a perfect fit for Angel Reese and co. Trying new tactics for effective plays on the floor, he shuffled a few players’ positions, but it negatively affected the results.

In 2024, the side finished 10th in the league with a 13-27 record (.327). After Marsh’s tactics, the win percentages went down to 0.257 after 35 games. The side could still better its record with nine games remaining in the season, but it would hardly affect its qualification scenario.
Marsh highlighted the same after a win over defending champions, the New York Liberty. Speaking to the press, he pointed out team unity despite the poor record.
“We want to go out on a high note, not knowing what to expect going into next year with free agency. This could be the last time all of us are in the same locker room together. You would see how much we like being around each other despite the record,” Marsh told the media.

Apart from rookies – Hailey Van Lith (2028), Maddy Westbeld (2028), Angel Reese (2027), and Kamila Cardoso (2028), the rest of the roster contracts expire at the end of the season. Reese expressed her desire to win the title as one of her wishes before retiring, and the Sky will need to dig deep for the same. Tyler Marsh signed a multi-year contract, but with recent results, Fans are not ready to see him leading the franchise.
Tyler Marsh Under Heat As Fans Demand Change
Since winning the 2021 title, the Chicago Sky have struggled to build on that success. In 2022, they lost in the semifinal and later in the first round. The addition of former NCAA champions was seen as a turning point for the franchise, but now they have missed the playoffs for the second season in a row.
Reese continued to make history, but her individual success didn’t translate well into team success. Loyal fans are not happy with the Coach’s approach and demand change.
