In the recent Unrivaled game, Natasha Cloud’s three-pointer to record a win over the Mist BC caught everyone’s attention. Kelsey Plum also gave Cloud her flowers for the clutch basket. If anyone thinks that’s the most eye-catching action the league can offer, the Unrivaled has come up with the 1-on-1 tournament.
The ultimate challenge for players is where players would play for themselves, in a knockout format, for a mega prize. But for the veterans, the tournament would be more than the award or cash incentive.

Veterans WNBA Stars To Redeem Themselves In Unrivaled 1-on-1 Tournament
The recent years in the WNBA saw multiple young players challenging the WNBA vets on the floor. While top picks traditionally were able to swoop into the league easily, the number of challengers per draft is continuously increasing, with critics also siding with the young blood.
A WNBA analyst, Ben Pickman, even called for the end of the dominance of established stars like A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart in the league, with Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers taking over the MVP crown in the coming days. Similarly, at the Unrivaled league, PB, Cameron Blink, and Sonia Citron are attracting more eyeballs. But it could change in the Unrivaled’s upcoming 1-on-1 tournament.

Last season, Napheesa Collier lifted the title, defeating Aaliyah Edwards, who knocked out the likes of Chelsea Gray, Breanna Stewart to reach the final. The 2026 edition has familiar faces, but a new opportunity for the vets to redeem themselves in the competition.

The tournament will start on Wednesday with top draws including Natasha Cloud vs Chelsey Gray, Aliya Boston vs Alyssa Thomas, and Marina Mabrey vs Sonia Citron. Though there are 32 challengers for the prize, here are the top players whom everyone should look out for.
Top Picks For Unrivaled 1-on-1 Tournament
Right from setting her foot on the WNBA and Unrivalled courts, Paige Bueckers became one of the most ‘controlling’ players. Her ball handling and shooting range make her an unstoppable force in any format.
While the Wings’ star could be one of the challengers, Fevers’ veteran guard, Kelsey Mitchell, remains the most gifted ball handler, making her the probable winner. Aliyah Boston also lauded her teammate as the best one-on-one player in the league.

Checking them up would be Breanna Stewart, who is, as per A’ja Wilson and Phee, the toughest player to guard. While her defence already set her apart from the rest, opponents also had to respect her offence. The only player matching Stewie’s two-way playing ability is Alyssa Thomas. Her raw power strikes fear in her opponents.
A surprise in the lot could be Jackie Young, who is an underrated defender compared to the big forwards in the competition, and also her offense matches the likes of PB and Clark, balancing the act on the floor perfectly.
