The Golden State Valkyries will be proud of their 2025 season performance, earning playoff qualification behind AP Coach of the Year winner Natalie Nakase and Most Improved Player of the Year Veronica Burton.
While the guard received a lot of praise for her clutch performances, the highest honor came when she received a call to a national team camp, joining many fresh faces in the selection process.

Veronica Burton Earns National Team Camp Call
Team USA will participate in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in 2026, and many anticipate Caitlin Clark teaming up with Angel Reese for the first time in a competitive game.
While that could still be the reality, the camp will have many new faces who shone in the 2025 WNBA season. One of them is the Valkyries’ star of the season, Veronica Burton. The 25-year-old player averaged 11.9 points with 4.4 rebounds, six assists, and two steals per game.
While these are all her career high averages, the former Northwestern player also shot nearly 39% from the field. Burton was happy after the selection for the National team training camp and wrote, “mannn.. God is good! Thankful for the opportunity.”

She will join players like Paige Bueckers, Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Sonia Citron, Kiki Iriafen, and JuJu Watkins in the camp. Apart from CC and Watkins, other players played a minimum of 30 games in the season and earned honors for their performances.
As for the Valkyries’ guard, she will also play in the upcoming Unrivaled league, for the Mist team that includes Breanna Stewart, Allisha Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Alanna Smith, and Li Yueru.
Many predicts that Burton’s Unrivaled debut could fuel the Golden State Valkyries’ WNBA free agency recruitment, the player is having some relaxing time in the offseason at the moment.
