The Chicago Sky is navigating through a difficult phase at the moment. Nothing seems to be working for the 2021 champions. After 18 games, they rank 12th, just above the struggling Connecticut Sun. Injuries to top players have affected their progress, and star forward Angel Reese is unhappy about the team’s performance.
She looked frustrated in the recent game against the Washington Mystics. Despite her productive night, the side fell short of victory. Shockingly, she took her frustration on a clipboard.
Angel Reese Burst Into Emotion During Mystics Game
The Washington Mystics looked to secure a comfortable win at home with a five-point lead against the Sky. But Chi-Town Barbie powered her side to a breathtaking comeback. Cutting the lead to two points, the Chicago team made a game out of nothing. Sadly, the hosts matched them bucket for bucket in the final 10 minutes, handing Tyler Marsh’s crew an 81-79 loss.
Angel Reese was the star of the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Even with her efforts to keep her team in contention, her teammates’ failures left her helpless. With under a minute to go, the game was tied at 77-77. The 2024 rebounding leader walked past her bench when an assistant coach came close to her with a clipboard in her hand. Angry, Reese slammed the board to the ground.

While the game got physical in the closing minutes, it could be the reason for the former NCAA Champion’s frustration. Yet, Reese’s exceptional form helped the Chicago team rack up a few wins despite recent struggles.
Angel Reese Looking To Carry Chicago Sky To New Highs
Ever since the Chicago Sky won the WNBA title in 2021, the side has shown no improvement. In 2023, they finished eighth with an 18-22 record, and last season, they finished 10th with a 13-27 record. The descent is worrisome for the team with a player of top quality on the roster.

Angel Reese understands the situation and is playing her best basketball at the moment. She has averaged 17 points and 17 rebounds in the last five games, setting a WNBA record in the process. Yet the team lost three games during that run. With five wins in 18 games, it will be a massive task for Sky to make it into the postseason.
