The Las Vegas Aces thrashed the Indiana Fever in Game 2, winning the match by 22 points to level the series. The Fever couldn’t win a single quarter in the game, with A’ja Wilson once again showcasing her MVP form. According to a WNBA analyst, the star of the opening match, Aliyah Boston, was ineffective in Game 2, which led to the Fever’s loss.
Although HC Stephanie White was ‘okay’ with Boston’s low scoring output in the opening game’s win, the analyst suggests that the plan could backfire in game 3.
WNBA Analyst Disappointed With Aliyah Boston’s Usage
The Indiana Fever savage the WNBA experts with an epic three-word burn following the first-round win. They defeated the Aces in the opening game of the semifinal series, which also shocked many pundits. But the second seed team bounced back with a strong reply. Although many saw them as underdogs in the series, WNBA analyst Alicia Jay pointed out one mistake that cost the game to Stephanie White’s team.

Talking on the ‘We Need to Talk’ podcast, Jay explained that Faver failed to fully utilize the 2023 Rookie of the Year winner. According to Jay, the forward should take more scoring opportunities to make an impact in the game.
“What I would say is I was rather disappointed in the way that they used Aaliyah Boston. They need to get that ball to her more. Aaliyah is a key player on that team. Aaliyah Boston is a phenomenal player, one of the best in the league, an all-star. I mean, the list goes on and on for her. And she needs to be more effective. They need to make sure that she’s more effective because it wasn’t for, you know, she just didn’t have as many opportunities as she should have in that game,” Jay said.

She highlighted that with Kelsey Mitchell struggling in the game, AB could be a huge factor moving forward. The Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena will host game three between the two challengers on September 26.
Aliyah Boston Won Match Against A’ja Wilson In Game 1 With Special Strategy
While AB was impactful on the defensive end, Jay wanted her to be more involved in the offense as well. While Boston scored in double digits in game 2, she scored just six points in the game they won and took responsibility for guarding A’ja Wilson.
“Honestly, just trying to kind of be annoying a little bit, because A’ja is a pretty great player. So for me, just trying to make sure my presence is felt,” Boston said.
While the Fever side has multiple players capable of scoring on open plays, defending the reigning MVP is challenging. But having the 24-year-old on offense will certainly take pressure off Kelsey Mitchell, giving the side a chance to win at home, too.
