The energy and mood at the Dallas franchise is high with the side choosing Azzi Fudd as its first overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft. With the pick, the front office paired her with its 2025 Rookie of the Year winner, as Fudd is also all hyped up about reuniting with Page Bueckers.
While the ‘dream’ pairing looks solid on paper and has already proved itself on the court, their romantic relationships also made the news last season after PB acknowledged the personal bonding.
But when the press tried to get more information about the same from Fudd, the Wings’ PR team stopped them on the spot.

Wings’ PR Avoids Personal Questions On Paige Bueckers- Azzi Fudd Relationship
As a first overall pick, the UConn star already had a spotlight on her with her first-ever interview on Good Morning America. On the show, she spoke highly about her team and teammates, leaving everyone satisfied. Then it was an official press conference introducing Wings at the Wings’ media room, which made the news for a different reason.
A reporter commented that Bueckers opened up about her relationship with Fudd and asked a simple follow-up question: “Is it still going on?” But before the 22-year-old said something, the PR team intervened and said, “I would understand why you have to ask that question. We’re going to respectfully decline from commenting on our players’ personal lives.”

The player, along with the GM and coach, also looked at the PR team member and agreed with her moving on to the other questions. Interestingly, a year ago, in an interview, the people princess mentioned how opposite their characters are, and they adjust with each other well to be the better part.
Although the player didn’t answer the question, the PR team’s intervention became a bigger news as a WNBA analyst slammed the attempt to treat players like ‘girls’.
Wings’ Attempt To ‘Protect’ Azzi Fudd Receives Criticism
On the Speak Easy Podcast, Emmanuel Acho quickly went after the Wings’ team as he pointed out the NBA stars openly talking about their better half, and even about their children. He added that with the league’s growth, the PR teams should also stop treating their players like girls.
“The WNBA players want to be treated like grown women, yet we’re treating them like little girls…. STOP IT!” Acho said on the podcast.

Fudd and other additions certainly improved the Wings’ quality on the floor as the team is now the fifth-best starting lineup in the season, but they would be hoping to make an even bigger impact with their on-court chemistry already delivering a title for the side.
