The CBA Deal made the headlines over the offseason with the league’s future in danger. Players were vocal about sitting out or striking if the WNBA won’t agree to their terms. On the front, though, the WNBPA committee was negotiating with the league, and even at the end had a long meeting to reach the agreement. Breanna Stewart, the vice president of the WNBPA, was a key member in the discussion as she spoke about the CBA deal recently.
Immediately after the CBA Confirmation, the first player to react to the terms was Stewart, who gave her nod to the historic WNBA CBA deal worth over $1 billion with a revenue-sharing breakthrough. Now she opened up about the process and the importance of the deal.

Breanna Stewart Speaks About CBA Deal
Player salaries in the 2026 season had been making headlines, with A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Mitchell, Azzi Fudd, and Aliyah Boston setting different records in the league. The new CBA had been a key reason for such massive commercial benefits, and the three-time champion was at the heart of the discussions.
“I think it’s incredible. I think that we were working tirelessly on the CBA, and while it probably went months too long, I’m happy that we were able to kind of hold out and get what we wanted,” Stewart said. “It just felt like we really were negotiating in that last week when you guys saw us in those rooms every single day. But I’m excited, I’m excited for the future, for what’s to come.”

“The fact that all players are getting to actually feel valued and their worth and to really kind of go after and get that … this is like the baseline. This is the starting point. Wherever we were before was kind of lesser. And now we really are getting ourselves at face value, and that’s only going to continue to grow,” Stewart added.

The player was also the first to see and share the positive sign from the league, highlighting a change that was needed. On the work front, the veteran guard also sees a big win coming her way with a stronger Liberty team taking the floor in the 2026 season.
Breanna Stewart Happy With Revamped Liberty Team
The New York Liberty promised a big change in the lineup, and they delivered the same, keeping their core intact. Satou Sabally joining the New York side was the biggest win for the team, who will now be in a position to challenge for the title.
Talking about her roster, Stewart said, “It seems like we just have a lot of length. Anywhere you look. We’re long and we’re tall, and we’re gonna kind of use that to our advantage. I’m sure some people are gonna think that, ‘Oh, we’ll be too big.’ But [it] seems hard to stop.”
While the player had been a dominating force on the court, the addition of top players certainly brought her back to go for her fourth WNBA title.
