It was not a regular game for either side. Two rivals, the Indiana Fever, welcomed the Chicago Sky for their fourth game of the season. Apart from superstars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese’s absence, many players were out of the rotation in the matchup, making it slightly even on paper.
Yet the home side registered a 22-point victory over the Sky, sweeping the season series in the process. Sky HC Tyler Marsh lauded the Fever team, which played without a designated point guard in the match.

While AR5 was nursing her back injury, the side had a chance to win one game against its conference rivals, the Fever. The team struggled throughout the season, losing all three games against Caitlin Clark’s team by 77 points combined.
Yet, the home side proved too much for Tyler Marsh’s side. Without a specialized playmaker, the Indiana team once again reached its season average of 92 points against the Chicago team. The well-oiled offensive engine pounced on the strong defensive plays on the one end, scoring 13 fastbreak points.
“I mean, [the Fever] have capable players to initiate. For us, we don’t have a team that’s really able to pressure the ball on the perimeter like that… So we weren’t able to turn them over much today,” Tyler Marsh in a postgame interview (via YT/ChicagoStateOfMind).
Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever team with 26 points, and three other starters scored in double digits. As for the Chicago franchise, no player scored over 15 points, and the team lacked defensive efforts to challenge the Indiana-based team.
Accepting a defeat against the ‘better side’, Marsh added that his team played well in some parts, but was outplayed by the opponents for most of the game. The Sky will now take on the Connecticut Sun and end their losing streak at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Indiana Fever HC Impressed By Indiana Fever Performance Against Sky
Back-to-back losses and losing all three guards to injury. It was a miserable situation for Stephanie White’s side, who were looking to push into the top four with some wins under their belt. But the game against the struggling Windy City team was a perfect opportunity for the Indiana team.
They responded well, filling up the gaps and putting defensive pressure on their opponents. By making necessary adjustments to the lineup, White handed every Fever player a chance to impact the game.
“We did a really, really good job. And that’s something that we’re going to have to continue to utilize, right? We did it. We did a great job. 11 offensive rebounds. We outscored them on second chance points, 21 assists on 33 major field goals. Shot distribution was really good. Just overall, like strong team effort. We are bigger. We are greater than the meat,” said White in the post-game interview (Via X/@IndianaFever).

There were many monumental performers for the fifth-placed team. Kelsey Mitchell becomes the league’s leading scorer after the game. Lexie Hull also found her offensive rhythm and scored a season-high 17 points. Aliyah Boston, with her defensive gameplay move to third spot in the Franchise’s all-time blocks count.
The side added Odyssey Sims on a hardship contract and is now providing some backup at the PG position. They will take on another struggling side, the Dallas Wings, next on August 12.
